Good points JH. I agree. CC should have left the BEAT alone or put KISS on 100.3. It's such a good strong signal, it seems a waste to have a 2.3 share performing station on it.
Question is then, what could they have done with 107.5?
Sometimes I wonder if it almost wouldn't have been better to put KDRB on 107.5 and stay Rhythmic, blow KISS up, and then put something on 100.3 that would have picked up the rock-CHR cumes, like a modern AC/CHR, similar to KRTI in Grinnell.
I don't think KHKI will stay on top always, this might be an inital spike, but it's definately in the upper ranks to stay.
Whats funny is, KHKI targets younger listeners, and it's number 1 now. The BEAT targeted younger listeners as well, and also used to be number 1 in that same age group, in under a year's difference in time. I don't really know what to make of that, but it would seem there are alot of listeners out there that are underserved, hence my comment on too much 25-54 overkill, plus the MY100 issue.
STAR is definately in a sad state ratings wise. But I read a story not too long ago that put it as one of the top billers in the Metro.??? Funny how one of the top billers only nets a 4 share 12+, whereas the other top biller, WHO, is on top!!!
