WOW . . . . are my eyes playing tricks on me??? Did KISS rise, tied with FLY (down) . . and crushing Jamz. What is going on at ABC . . . are they ever gonna get the hint?? I guess it was only a matter of time with the changes at FLY and JAMZ.

So here's the next question . . who's gettin the boot from Morrell's camp??
Edited by bw on 09/30/05 11:45 AM.

Please get your facts straight, genius before you post on this board.

Yes, KISS comes in at #9 overall for this trend. This is excellent news for them. I think it's the first time they've broke into the top 10. Congrats to the staff. Remember, it is just a trend, but it's a good sign for them and the outcome of the summer book.

MTraxx: Lenscrafters offers great deals on eyeglasses and they can have you out of there in an hour or less!

Case in point: YOUR WRONG! WFLY is up a full point in this trend. They're at #7. A nice jump for those folks. Looks like a good trend for Albany CHR's all-around.

WAJZ did take a significant hit and drops out of the top 10.

Good night.

WKKF finally shows some life. Guess the changes they made in the morning and at night weren't really necessary. Whoops!

When are you going to realize that Rob Dawes is a programming genius?

When I lived in Albany, I kept an archive of trends, and ratings, going back 6 years.. WKKF has slowly risen, and I acutally got to look at the breakdown of the ratings today.. I'm sure whatever loony toon is PD at fly these days has 102.3 as #1 on their stereo preset...

The Mighty "12+ Observations" Resurface

Here we go again, quoting 12+ numbers...of a "trend" no less. Ask yourself why you only have access to 12+ numbers. It may be because your responsibilies have zero to do with understanding ratings. If people were judged by a down trend in "any" demo, we would all be out of work. But 12+? Ha!

NUMBERS POSTED WRONG

Yesterday afternoon at 5pm All Access originally posted FLY for the trend . . . they retracted the wrong number . . and reposted either late last night or this morning. So that's my bad (and theirs) on the tie between KISS and FLY.

And to all you know it all's out there that live and breath for this board . . I hate to tell ya . . but trends do mean a lot, you can't rule them out as BS numbers.

Re: NUMBERS POSTED WRONG

As much as I hate to say anything on here . .I have to agree with MTraxx on this . . All Access did post the wrong number for FLY yesterday . . . I had to do a double take when I first saw it.

Re: NUMBERS POSTED WRONG

1 12+ trend means nothing! Talk about dayparts and extrapolations within the trend and you have my ears, but even within 12+, you are talking about an indicator at best. You are not making any observations, just regurgitating numbers.

Re: NUMBERS POSTED WRONG

FLY did see a trend upward of a full point. It doesn't mean they'll be up when the book hits, but it's a good indicator. What I don't understand is how PYX still has any numbers, let alone an upward trend of about 3/4's of a point. I just don't get it. The Edge saw modest gain as opposed to the downward trends we were seeing. What about the Channel? It looks as though they will have their 5th consecutive down book. How much longer will CC wait before it becomes Jack or whatever the hot new format is? Is the Jamz drop directly related to Sugarbears exit? Maybe the PYX rise is just a shift from the River. Let's face it, Arbitron numbers are not an exact science. Diary placement, diary return, they just can't be counted on.
Edited by bw on 09/30/05 11:49 AM.

See, it's posts like this that keep people from contributing to this board. It's this attitude that the only opinions that matter are those from people who think that pulling in minimum wage for watching a computer and saying they're "on the radio" is a wise career move.

Would you rather we didn't talk about anything at all here? Kinda defeats the purpose of a discussion board, doesn't it? For whatever reason, ratings and format change rumors are the only things that interest this group. Yeah, 12+ doesn't mean much, but it's something, and for many of us it's the only thing we've got because we have better things to do than work in radio. Or is that not good enough?

Re: The Mighty "12+ Observations" Resurface

My experience is that those who know the least in radio act as if they know the most. I do not know how many times I have heard people in radio say, "I could program that station better". It is annoying that the least equipped to debate have the biggest mouths.

> Would you rather we didn't talk about anything at all here?

I would "rather" people not make ignorant observations based on a 12+ trend.

Uhhh...What? So much for the copywriting position.

You have better things to do than work in radio? Well, you had better get back to it. Move along, nothing to see here. I apologize for taking up your time. I thought this board was for people working in radio.
