LATV Hartford

Just got a new EYETV Hybrid digitall tuner for my Mac and it just did an OTA channel scan and its picking up something called LATV on channel 60. (or what the EYETV software labeled as 60)

Anyone know where this one is coming from? Its a digtall off air signal that I have not seen before.

I am picking it up here from the top of the Goodwin Building on the 29th floor.

Does the EyeTV tell you what physical channel its on? Is it mapping to 60-1 or is it actually on 60?

Entravision has the LATV contract in Hartford, so what you're seeing might be a digital subchannel of WUVN 18. Titan TV shows WUVN's subchannels as their Springfield station on DT2 and Telefutura on DT3, but I would think the Springfield station would have been redundant.

Neither Connecticut nor Massachusetts have any analog stations on channel 60, full-service or low-power, so I'm not sure why it shows up as channel 60 on your box.

I think that the channel 60 was assigned by the software.

I did a search for LATV and Hartford and found that the channel was indeed coming to Hartford this Summer, but there was no word of what channel.

It is a digital station that just identifies itself as 60 LATV.

The quality of the programming is actually very good, its too bad I don't speak spanish as there are some interesting shows on there.

Wait...is this something that would be on over the air on UHF channel 60? What about WTIC-TV (FOX) channel 61? ???

Telemundo station WNEU in Merrimack NH is the only channel 60, either full- or low-power, in all of New England, but that's an NBC/Telemundo O&O. Entravision has the contract for LATV in Hartford, so I don't think it's from WNEU. For the same reason, I don't think it has anything to do with WTIC either.

I'm guessing that Entravision is replacing the redundant WHTX Springfield simulcast with LATV. Or they might be adding LATV as DT4. (Telefutura is on DT3.) The channel 60 display might just be from your converter's software. If anyone has a digital tuner, I'd check the 18.x subchannels.

I was in Farmington just over a week ago and there was no LATV on the 18.x subchannels. Maybe it just came on the air this week.

I just checked WUVN-DT here in New Britain. I'm still getting the same three channels on their station.

I just reread the original post, and he did say that he was on the 29th floor of a building so I suppose WNEU is possible, but why would an NBC O&O air LATV?

If it is local, the Entravision properties in Hartford/Springfield are WUVN 18 Hartford, WHTX 43 Springfield and WUTH 47 Hartford. They also own WUNI 27 Worcester and WUTF 66 Marlborough.

It could also be W60AI New York.

W60AI in New York City is Home Shopping channel. This is either a local LPTV doing digital or someone has a incorrectly mapped digital sub channel. Some sets when you do the channel scan, you will see where it originates from.
