Laura Ingraham Losing Steam?

I saw Laura got dumped at WHLO for Rusty Huphries..is she losing steam? I'm not sure what markets should does well in anymore.

In her defense, she was carried on an hours-old delay on WHLO (during its lightbulb power nighttime signal), is featured live on WHK in Cleveland which has a good signal in the Akron market, and it's likely she'll be picked up--live--on another talk station in Akron/Canton.

OhioMediaWatch: "Some folks are wondering if WHLO's move would clear the way for NextMedia's WHBC/1480 to carry Ingraham in their 10-noon slot, with talk on the horizon very soon at the Canton oldies outlet. We haven't heard any word about that, at least so far..."

Hey, I've read this somewhere.

:D

Since I wrote that, it's pretty much been nailed down that local activist Ron Ponder will take that time slot when WHBC goes to a full-time talk format on April 2nd.

Could WHBC pick up Ms. Ingraham on delay or elsewhere? Who knows, but WHLO no longer has the rights to her, and I don't think WHK could influence that.

Laura seems pretty set on Salem stations, displacing even the company's own Mike Gallagher in many, many Salem talk markets.

Not exactly

Because she mouths the right-wing party line she'll always have a home with the likes of ABC and Salem.

WHLO is licensed for 5 kw-D/500 w-N, DA-2. That's more than "lightbulb power" for a station at 640 AM.

Also, Ms. Ingraham is heard on WHK in daytime when 1420 is running 5 kw-ND.

when did she ever have steam?

When her pictures were on the Internet. You know the ones I'm talking about. Publicity like that not only attracted lots of hits to her website, it also got a large number of people to tune in and check out her show.

are you thinking of 'Dr Laura'?

are you thinking of 'Dr Laura'?

Of course I am. Are there any other talk divas on the air named "Laura"? There aren't any on any station that my radio picks up.

I guess that makes some sort of point about Laura's "steam" or lack thereof, doesn't it?

I guess the point is 'Dr Laura' lost her steam a long time ago, when those 'pictures' came out ;)

Maybe Ingraham needs her own 'spread', but given her health issues, I would only buy one at half price! ;D

I find Ingraham to be more entertaining than most! She has a keen sense of humor, and seems to be doing quite well in most markets - particularly where she is cleared live! Really tough to take that ten hours delayed most days.

Meanwhile, Dr. Laura's burner is not even lit anymore! Of course, she could retire and they could run old shows over and over - who would know?

The whole genre of personal advise talk shows is pretty well dead. As far as I know, Dr. Laura is the only one strong enough to survive at all.

Laura I ..doesn't measure up to Laura S....Sex sells... maybe Ingram should use it... who wants to see Rusty Humphries in a mini skirt?
