Laura Ingraham to WWBA Mornings?

On WWBA's website, it no longer lists Dan Yorke after Morning Magazine and instead lists Laura Ingraham before Smerconish at noon. Is Ingraham now airing live on WWBA?

How soon before her show is now pre-empted for gold infomercials?

That's what it's looking like. So much for 820's "live and local" programming. Larsen early mornings, then just like FLA, right on to the same old syndicated crap. I could look at LI all day long, but have a hard time listening to her show.

York was rough in the beginning, but was beginning to show a lot of promise as far as talent goes. He was simply a victim of 820's absolute inability to ever become a threat to 970.

York is either on his way out, or already out. Its a damn shame what is going on over there too. Some of the decisions that are being made in terms of talent are...interesting to say the least, especially with the sister sports station. I wonder how long they have to keep missing the book before they shuffle the deck. There is an awful lot of money going to talent there with no ratings to show for it.

They need to bring back Boortz. Salem would be smart to clear Boortz live instead of the Salem produced programming that fills their day. Ingraham is just too shrill. She is Hannity lite. This move is not going to improve 820's ratings in my opinion.

If this is true then they have lost me. Dan started out rough, but he worked hard and was sounding very good.

Oh well, perhaps it's a typo on the weppage.

We will know this morning.

Well Laura Ingraham is on WWBA this morning and she is on the front of the WWBA website with a time of 9pm-11pm which probably just hasn't been changed yet.

Looks like Ingraham is now live on WWBA!

Ingraham is also live on 1280 in Sarasota. 1280 should find new programming for this time slot as 820's signal blows 1280 away even here in Sarasota. Needless duplication

IN MEMORIAM OF THE TAMPA BAY EXPERIENCE

Animal control agents report that a tempest-in-a-teacup Yorkie has been mauled by a pack of pit bulls. Surveillance video has helped them ID the ravenous beasts:

Talk Radio Network and its affiliate relations department, having 820 over a barrel since Savage is the only syndicated show that draws flies on that station.

Goldie the Gold Pit Bull, who tore away at the yorkie piece by piece for several days a week.

Bruce "D'oh" Maduri, who managed to lose audience while going to a 50,000-watt signal.

Services for the TBE will be held at the Dick Norman Local Talk Radio Memorial at the end of a dirt road in Pinellas Park.

Seriously, I thought 820 would gain audience after moving from 1040. The Mark Larsen/ Roger Schulman stunt of dressing up in blackface is all the more pathetic in retrospect as NO ONE rose to the race-baiting. This station can't buy attention.

What I would have advised Yorkie to do:

Build an advertiser portfolio. The secret sauce of local talk radio over the years has always been the live read/live endorsement -- and Yorkie had NONE. Even with low numbers, a strong lineup of local advertisers would have helped him survive.

Don't just read topics at random out of the paper. Some are hotter than others and should be stayed on longer -- perhaps even for the live show.

Do more to encourage local caller participation.

Treat this as a 24/7 job. Something tells me he left this gig mentally when he put down his headphones at noon each day. Mark Larsen's idiot stunt aside, there are ways to generate publicity. If you're all about the local community, get out in the community. Now we have another failure and the cause of local talk is set back ten years.

One more thing. If cost cutting had to take place, WWBA should have gotten rid of its news department and used the money to hire two local talk hosts -- or keep York. Crime stories and kickers are no reason to forgo local for syndication. Hit 970 where they ain't, and that is local talk, not local news where they still have relative strength, though nowhere near where they were three or four years ago.

Well I can tell you this much, WWBA has finally dropped completely off my radar screen. Come on, seriously. Laura Ingraham??? Please, she belonged where they had her before... LATE NIGHT. She is quite possibly the most uninformed talk show host I've ever heard. WWBA would have been better off airing The Best Of The Frank Foster Show. I flipped past 820 this morning and was incredibly disappointed to hear her husky voice cackling about something that she hasn't a clue about.

I don't blame Naughty Talker for viewing this as a step forward for "professional broadcasters", he seems to feel that he falls under this category, so we'll let him fantasize. In my opinion, dropping an original sounding host that appealed to a young and hip local audience, for a shrill neo-con propagandist, is not a step forward. The reason talk radio is failing is quite simple, no one in their right mind wants to listen to hour after hour of warmed over content from the previous day's Rush Limbaugh show. If these stations want to survive, its time to target a younger demographic. Most of the old fogeys that used to fuel Lassiter and Lionel have passed on by now, and if you have to screen calls as often as I've had to, you'd know that the majority of the callers we get now are from that same group, they've just been lucky enough to escape death's grip thus far.

Actually, the oldsters calling now are probably early boomers -- contemporaries of Lassiter, just with opposite political views. It would be fun to hear a Gen X-Y host rail on boomers and the politics the Dubya-Clinton generation has left behind, the way Lassiter used to rip into the "Dubya Dubya Two" generation. Talk radio has aged with the people who were brought in by Limbaugh in 1988 -- and is not bringing in people at the other end.

It doesn't matter what people in their right mind (or wrong mind) want. What matters is taking up the oversupply of syndicated dreck and keeping Talk Radio Network and other syndicators happy so they don't go across town. If that means clearing Washington Times and Laura Ingraham and Rusty Humphries and whatever swill they serve up to keep Michael Savage, so be it.

WWBA would have been better off airing The Best Of The Frank Foster Show.

Heck, bring Foster in now (if he's still around) -- only this time make him take calls from all the cranks who'd like to put him on... ;D

I have an official Frank Foster show T-Shirt, it is one of my most prized possessions. I still wear it sometimes.

Becuase "talk radio" as it's defined for younger age groups is Bubba, the MJ morning show, and the Monsters.... nothing to appeal to a more news-oriented crowd....

Incidentally, 48 hours after exiting WWBA there is still no mention of Mr. York's departure anywhere.

No coverage in two big local newspapers, not in countless on-line columnist blogs, not over local TV.

Certainly Dan's firing is not being mentioned on Genesis stations or the competition. Nope. Not a blip, nowhere, nada.

It's eery, almost like Dan York never happened at all and even Radio-info.com misspelled his name, Yorke.

Hope he got a good resume tape out of it, he's gonna need it in Tampa-town, even after Obama saves the economy.

Mr Lincoln, thy name is Mudd, which makes it impossible to get traction.

Better, at least, than Dan York. I expected him to be canned and often wondered why he was still on the air whenever I tuned him in, and then out. York reminded me of a high school kid playing radio announcer. I thought he was immature, although in his 30's, immitative, redundant, corny :D, and racist like his idol and role model, Mark Larsen, WWBA's resident racist. ::) Mark is a good, veteran of talk show radio, but I wonder when he'll be fired because of HIS racist tirades, which he claims. of course, are no such thing. Retirement, as before, suits him well.

Note to WWBA management: Racism on your station helps destroy your and Genesis owner's overall image and ratings. When will you admit it to yourselves.

Better than Dan York??? Really???

I'm not saying he was great, but Laura Ingraham is terrible. Enough with the Rush clones already!

BTW, First post huh? Yeah, Mark is such a racist, nice try.

I don't know about you guys, but my all time favorite radio cliche is:

I don't like (insert radio host here) because he/she is racist!

Boortz does a great job of dragging the word "raaaaa-cist" out to emphasize just how tired we all are of hearing that same old complaint, over and over and over again...

I'm with Yorkie on this one. Larsen's no racist, he hates everyone... it's his show that's cliche.

Now Dan, get off the radio-info boards and get a job. You'll thank me for the tough love later.
