It would seem that Laura Morris has been asked not to be at CBS Houston for the remainder of her assisting in the relocation of the new stations and the transfer of power to Brian Purdy. In her Laura Morris way of domination over others just because she can, she has lost her battle to reduce the sales manager of 96.5 to a lessor level. By doing so and creating a disruption in the transition, her highness may have been banished (we hope).

Between her and Jeff Garrison, KILT FM has been destroyed. What was once the envy of radio in Houston has been reduced to a joke. Thank God Dickie Rosenfeld is not around to see it.

AND NOW,,,,,, young Tom Fontaine has been let go to make way for a national canned program.

Jim, Pat, T.J., R.B. and now Tom – KILT has GONE TO CRAP.

Not to defend her, because I don't know her, but I believe all the cuts were mandated by CBS Radio. They had massive cuts in all markets. I will agree that KILT-FM is just a shadow of its former self. But so is radio in general. Very sad, but very true. Brian Purdy will be no better. If I am not mistaken, he and Jim Trapp presided over the fall of KLOL. He was baptized in the Clear "cut" Channel school of putting eight stations in a four station bad, so to speak.

To be micro-mannaged under Morris leaves no room to perform. No matter what you do, it is wrong.
If Jeff were a real PD, KILT fm would have had such rattings, New York would use it as the standard for the rest of the country, as it used to be. There is no reason to fix what works. Just help it along.

Sno, I think you're off on this one. If I recall correctly, at the time the flip went down, Trapp was long gone (Vince was his replacement). Steve Fixx was acting PD or APD for KLOL, and it was none other than Ken Charles who was rumored to have had an altercation with KLOL's largest client at a critical time when CC was looking to implement Spanish formats. I know that, with the exception of W&J and Outlaw Dave, Fixx was the one who called the rest of the KLOL jocks on the phone and let them know that they were no longer employed. Evidently, dealing with staff directly wasn't Vince's forte. Ken Charles and Don Jantzen were both in the market at the time, as was evidenced by their posts on the boards. I don't believe the flip can be attributed to Brian Purdy.

I moved to Houston in 2001, and by then Trapper had left Houston for Seattle. He's a decent guy, and I'd work for him again.

My GM and I have known Laura for over 15 years. A wonderful woman, with terrific work ethics. She WILL be missed. Jim Trapp also.

It was probably a lot different when he was a PD. I wish I'd known him in that capacity. By the time he left Houston, he'd been promoted to Operations Manager in charge of the cluster as the 93Q property got shuffled out and KLOL, the Arrow, the Buzz, Mix, and Sunny got consolidated into the 3050 Post Oak building. I seem to recall a fair amount of dancing in the hallways after he left, maybe if just because his job turned into being the Axe-man who eliminates redundant positions during the consolidations. Maybe the stress made him hot-headed and heavy-handed. Those were pretty demoralizing times for just about everybody.

I guess I've got absolutely nothing to lose by saying that I thought what he did to Jeff McMurray was bogus. Jeff would have been a very successful Arrow PD in the long run, as he was in the short run he was allowed. I've hoped he's gone on to better things, because I always thought he got a raw deal.
