Laurie Cantillo To WTOP?

Well, prior to her two years as PD of WABC, she spent a half-dozen years as PD of KFYI, which is considered Phoenix's de facto news radio station (they do carry syndicated programs like Rush Limbaugh).

Her past experience at the female-leaning Oprah Winfrey's Harpo was what seemed to have piqued speculation of Laurie landing at the originally-female-leading WEMP - probably not as much as her and Randy Michaels both attending a radio convention in Dallas earlier this year, of course... All that aside, her body of work should be appealing to WTOP, even if it's not genuine all-news radio, per se.

Not true. 550 KFYI is more of a talker. Not even sure they staff their newsroom 24/7,
though they may claim to. Late at night you may just hear Fox News at the TOH/BOH.

Is there's a de facto news station in Phoenix, it would be KTAR-FM 92.3, although they
position themselves as N/T.

Laurie Cantillo was PD for two stations in Phoenix for several years at News/Talk 550 KFYI and at Newsradio 620 KTAR, (now News/Talk 92-3 KTAR-FM).
