LAW and Order SVU losing two main stars

Surprised nobody brought this up.
Christopher Maloney and Mariska Hagarty both out..
Jenifer Hewit(spell) being looked at for a replacement for Hagarty.

perhaps their departure can make room for more good richard belzer moments.i think john munch is such an underused charactor in the series.

That would be Jennifer Love Hewitt, she of Party of Five and Ghost Whisperer,
who might replace Mariska Hargitay on SVU next season. As for Meloni's replacement,
D'Onofrio would fit very well.

This show jumped the shark for me about 2 seasons ago. It was always over-wrought and melodramatic, but the scripts have really gone to hell in the last couple of years, IMO. Ridiculous plot twists, unlikely resolutions, comic-book caricature villains.

Maybe Hargitay and Meloni's departures will hasten the show's well deserved death. It had a good run.

now just sign up Ted McGinley as her partner and this will be PERFECT! :D

As long as there's headlines to rip from (and there always will be...) there will always be a solid possibility of keeping the show going, and doing quite well.
I still fail to understand why contracts could not be met. That's just sad!

I agree

This year's season finale was everything that quote said.

Replace them with David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson. Mitch Pelleggi as the precinct captain. Call it Law and Order----Paranormal Unit.

Or bring back Chris Noth and team him with the four actresses from Sex and the City. Have Steve and Aiden as the second team replacing Munch and Finn. The four women fight crime in Gotham and chris Noth runs the operation while dressed in a cape. Mario Cantone is his sidekick. It could be called Law and Order Batman Charlie's Angels Unit.

;D. I know you're joking, but that would actually attract viewers and improve ratings - without being any more ridiculous than the show has already become.

Don't Laugh. I didn't even think of him.Not sure if he would be a good replacement for Meloni but he is one of very few actors that can reinvent a show while keeping it fresh and maintain ratings and be interesting. aka Happy Days,Married with Children,Revenge of the Nerds movies.I don't think he was in the first one.

I myself would like to see Don Johnson as a cop again but I know that is not going to happen.

Bill Murray and Harold Ramis as the ADa's, so when the paranormal criminals get arrested, you need a crack team in the DA's office to make it "stick" like ectoplasm. Munch and Finn can be now played by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

considering the hint of danger and even psycho behavior that Stabler has shown, I still suggest James Gandolfini, Michael Imperioli (both free), Al Pacino, Lou Pinella, John McEnroe, or BoSephus.

I quit after season 1, episode 2.

NYPD from 1993 to 2005 went through several cast changes. And did okay. Though the best years were with Dennis Franz & Jimmy Smits. I think the "Andy Sipowicz" character could work on SVU. But I doubt that would happen. Maybe they could bring back Dennis Farina?

Didn't Imperioli already have a short stint on an L&O show a few seasons ago?
