Lawton / KCCU GM Search (where is Ted Riley)

In case anyone missed it, Cameron U / KCCU is doing a very "abbreviated" job search (a token EEO dance only to satisfy their university policy) to look for a replacement Director of Broadcasting and GM for the KCCU group.

Q: What happened to Ted Riley who has been in that position since 07-08??

Apparently no one has ever heard of (or even cares one little bit about) Cameron University's radio group, with flagship station call letters KCCU et al. Thank the Lord.

The position being advertised broadly (yes, meets FCC requirements) is just a tab bit of a joke.

The 2012 job ad deviates from the position as advertised in 2007 by Cameron University by adding such requirements as "PC Repair", "Web Design" and "Audio Vault" experience which were NOT advertised in the large scale search performed back in 2007/08.

The addition of these specific responsibilities, as well as having "5 years" prior experience as station manager listed as a "preferred" requirement were added in to give preference to a present employee at the station. (I have his resume from the public domain from 2007, and no surprise, he has these exact skills); thus, these quirky qualifications were added in to the job description to give that individual an unbeatable advantage when the university scores competitive applications.

FYI, the position was advertised in 2007 at the $72,500 compensation level. - That should be adjusted for cost of living and 5 years of growth.

But again, no one should bother applying for this position as the fix is in because of the way the very job description was written to favor a known candidate who is on staff.

It is an EEO dance. And, nobody wants to travel to Lawton to legitimize the hire process as the EEO odd man out.

Final thought, the last search KCCU did was also a hoax as the job went to the politically connected candidate (a son of Oklahoma public broadcasting) rather than an bonafide qualified candidate.

Considering what today's radio is all about, are these skills that far off base? Hell, it's all computerized crap anymore. How many people work there? Because it's a small staff I'm guessing that the GM there gets to play engineer quite a bit actually. Times are changing. Social media, a web presence and the ever-changing/adding proliferation of computerization has ramped up on radio a ton since 2008.
