Allaccess says at least 70 gone due to downsizing. Mostly markets 60 and above. Has this effected anyone in Philly or Reading?

now it appears about 100 people have been let go by Westwood One. Apparently some at Westwood One network itself and some at Metro Networks. I wonder too--- any layoffs at Metro--Philly? Hope not-- as I know people there.

I see lots of comments on the web indicating westwood one has been managed poorly for years. Not sure how much of this is true but I do know people at the Metro Networks division who work long hours for poor pay.

Jay, outside of Sales, that sums up the radio industry on a whole.

you are so right. I know sales people in tv and radio ----who work short hours for big $$!

Let me get this right ....

Managers mismanage and screw things up.
Managers hold meeting to plan a solution.
Solution involves trimming everyone below management level.
Managers keep job.
Profits temporarily go up due to smaller payroll.
Remaining workforce demoralized and over worked.
Product suffers.

Wow, what a business.

From what I have heard, most of the cuts were in markets 60 and smaller. They let several middle manager/VP types go a few months back.

And the stock continues to drop.....
