Layoffs Underway At CBS Studios & Paramount TV Studios; Paramount+ Scripted Team To Be Merged

EXCLUSIVE: The expected alignment of CBS Studios, Paramount TV Studios and the Paramount+ scripted originals team is happening, and it is resulting in staff cuts. The latest round of Paramount Global layoffs is impacting under 30 people, I hear, all on the West Coast. According to sources, the majority of them are at CBS Studios and Paramount TV Studios, with handful of employees at CBS also let go.

As Deadline has reported speculatively, the Paramount+ scripted originals team is being folded into Paramount TV Studios, sources said. The move is resulting in several layoffs, I hear.

Paramount to merge two divisions within its operations together.

Also Management change at CBS.

Eric Kim has been promoted to exec vp current programming at CBS.

Kim, an 11-year CBS veteran, fills the void created by the promotion of Amy Reisenbach. Reisenbach this month was upped to entertainment president at CBS, replacing the ousted Kelly Kahl after the exec, who spent nearly 30 years at CBS, was ousted in a cost-cutting move.

“I’ve worked closely with Eric for over a decade and have always been impressed with his incredible programming instincts, skill in working with showrunners on our biggest hit shows and strong relationships throughout the creative community,” said Reisenbach. “I’m very excited for him to take on this significant role. He is a proven, smart executive whose leadership and input will be vital to the success of our series.”

Job losses are always sad; at this time of year, it’s especially harsh news. We all know why it happens in a multitude of businesses, but it still sucks.
