Lazlo Named KRBZ PD

Back In The Old Seat Again
ENTERCOM Alternative KRBZ (96.5 THE BUZZ)/KANSAS CITY afternooner/Content Director LAZLO returns to the PD chair replacing GREG BERGEN, who exited last week due to budget cutbacks.

LAZLO arrived back in KANSAS CITY two months ago (NET NEWS 8/21/08) following a two-year PD/afternoon stint at sister Alternative KNDD (107.7 THE END)/SEATTLE.

His first stint as PD at THE BUZZ began in 2003.

Were his numbers good the first time around in K.C.? He took The END down the proverbial crapper and is rewarded by Entercom with the same On-Air/Off-Air duties that he had here.

His KC numbers were good at one point but slid big time prior to his arrival in Seattle. This is just another case of the suits figuring they have 2 people capable of doing the role so they just get rid of the one that costs them the most money and roll the dice with the one that they pay a smaller salary to.
 
he had a bad book in KC. So what. It happens to al lof us. Lazlo is probably the 2nd best known jock in the city. Right behind Johnny Dare. Also employed by Entercom.

Ya gotta admit, he programs a great flanker. Exactly what KRBZ is..

He's genuinely a nice guy too, if you ever met him you'd know.
 
Lazlo did crap radio plain and simple and was beyond selfish saying he didn't care about the music and that he was only concerned with his show being # 1 which is not what a PD should worry about but rather the whole station doing well.
Oh and he'll NEVER have better #'s than Neanderpaul at KQRC - The Rock! in KC

Calling it crap radio is purely an opinion.

did you ever stop to think... MAYBE he was baiting you into a debate with his comments about the music? Did ya? Thats REALLY his schtick.

Now I have to agree with you. Paul Marshall is probably one of the best jocks ever. VERY smart dude and very talented. I just dont think he is as well known as Lazlo in KC yet. Lazlo likes to stir shit up on and off the air. It gets him noticed.

Love Lazlo, or hate him. Its your choice. The Buzz never sounded better under his control.

I would hope he does better in Kansas City. In Seattle, it's a far more vicious market when it comes to modern rock. People here don't look at it merely as a radio "format", but a way of life. The attitude here is "let KNDD play for the mall rats, the rest of us will listen to KEXP or KGRG or just whatever we can download off the web".

KJET had the almost the same problem (on top of being automated and AM), but what made KJET different was it was more willing to play indie/local music cuts in regular rotation on top of the commercial stuff and NOT bypassing the old classics.....there's a lesson in that for KNDD...

Lazlo didn't get the Seattle market. ... It is VERY competitive in comparison to Kansas City. THAT in a nutshell is what he didn't get.
