LBJ At Fort Bragg ??

M...eye fell....lowe Am ........er. . . . i. . . . . cans:

What were the networks and the cable stations doing tonight? Summer reruns from 1966?

Turned on the set and there he was Lydon Baines Johnson.
Guess they were rerunning LBJ's "Light at the end on the tunnel" speech.

Sarcastic response:

After the speech, flipped my clunky channel knob on my new color TV (I didn't know the networks would show LBJ's speech in color!) between Huntley and Brinkley (NBC), Walter Cronkite (CBS) and Howard K. Smith (ABC) analyzing the speech. Huntley and Brinkley had this kid (actually, he's in his late thirties) on as one of their panelists who just came back to NBC after a short stint at Voice Of America---I think his name is something Chancellor---watch this guy. When either Huntley or Brinkley retires, he could get NBC's evening newscast. And after Huntley and Brinkley signed off, NBC ran a promo for some new space show starting in the Fall--but does one of the characters in that upcoming show have pointed ears?!?!?!??

(sarcastic response over)

Well, both Presidents Lyndon Johnson and George W. Bush were born in Texas, so that may have something to do with the accents and mannerisms of both men.

Tsk, tsk, Joe. I thought you were a real New Englander, like the Bushes.

George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Conn., in 1946. He was raised in Texas, and he returned to his birthplace to attend Yale (as his father did before him) in the '60s.

Thanks for correcting me. I thought that President Bush's father 9the former President) was born in New England, but that the Persident was born in Texas.

My apoloigies.
