As a shareholder of ETM, it warmed my heart to hear WBEN Operations Manager Tim Wenger doing a traffic report this afternoon!

I smell dividends!

Yep...just announced: Two cents per share. Don't spend it all in one place.

https://entercom.com/press/investors/entercom-communications-corp-announces-quarterly-dividend-5/

While I realize you're being flip, ETM's frugality will put food in my belly.

I own 1,000 shares, that means a pre-tax dividend of $20.00 for me.

Thank you Tim Wenger and all at ETM! That $20 will buy me a Grand Slam, a Tuna Melt and a Coke at Denny's. If I had only owned another 250 shares I could leave a decent tip.

What, Beamer wasn't available? Oh that's right, he filled in for Sandy again during his medical procedure.

Maybe it's time for Sandy to hand off the show, take his HOF awards and retire.

Just a reminder that dividends are taxable by both the feds and the state. My guess is your net will be around $13.

Personally I wouldn't trust an ops manager who couldn't do all of the jobs of his staff. I like generals who came up through the ranks.

I can skip the Tuna melt and the coke.

Still cannot figure out how Beamer is considered ready for prime time. But by all means, keep the dividends coming!

And just about every commercial is Todd Broady's voice....it's all Entercom and it's bird material...cheap, cheep, cheap! Meanwhile, Greg Ried keeps buying bigger boats off the backs of his people and his advertisers till one day the ship sinks...gurgle, gurgle

You'd rather air a threat to the life of a public officer holder and his family. Grossly irresponsible. An experienced host should be proficient in the art of dumping a call and moving on without reference to the call having been dumped and it's content. In this day and age, the threat against the welfare of the host or listener, let alone a public office holder, should and must be taken seriously. Reference Alan Berg.

This kind of thing is happening more and more in conservative talk. And yes Alan Berg is a good example. These talk hosts drive passions of their callers, and that can result in violence. Anger and passion can drive ratings, but it also can lead to threats and actual violence. Maybe it's time for stations to bring down the tempo of the talk a little bit. Take a look at twitter some time. There's a lot of anger out there, and it's being driven by this kind of talk radio.

"Conservative" talk is not accurate. It's Right Wing Rabid Crazy Talk. Stations like WBEN revel in this garbage. It's the red meat for their base. When facts and common sense are condemned by these people, there is no hope of finding common ground...

I'd take that a step further.

You can blame talkradio and Fox news for cornering republicans with such vitriolic demagoguery, that they are afraid to go against the King. Republicans aren't so much afraid of Trump himself as they are Trump's minions who are constantly being stoked by Fox and talkradio. They simply cannot take the heat, so they regularly defend the indefensible. It's quite a thing to watch.

If you want to blame anybody, blame the managers who, on a day-to-day basis, let their hosts get further and further away from the truth and sink deeper and deeper into fantasy/conspiracy land and incivility.

The managers are responsible for getting ratings and revenue, and you get more of both with anger than with happy talk.

Who said anything about "happy talk"? Don't confuse "happy talk" with "factual talk".

What we have today is an alternate reality echo chamber, where unchallenged misinformation and conspiracy theories reign supreme.

There is a difference between common sense and opinion. If one is conservative, what is common sense is based on a conservative attitude. The same thing applies to progressives.

The problem comes when we disagree with the other perspective and don’t honor the right to hold a differing opinion.

Common sense is not all that common, and is flavored by each individual’s value system and beliefs.

John Adams said "Facts are stubborn things". When one side cannot accept Science & Facts (And talks about "Alternative Facts" = Lies), the point is moot. People may have the right to believe the Earth is flat, but they are wrong...

It's entertainment, and it gets ratings. It's all about dollars. You want facts? Listen to WBFO. And be sure to contribute.
