LEARY LEAVING

Cat Country morning guy Tim Leary going to WGAR, Cleveland. Now what? Not that much stability in that morning slot. Not good in spite of the station's good numbers.

I'm really sorry to hear this. The Morning Showgram is the only show I want to hear in the morning. You can't fault a person for making a move that's good for his career, but he's replacing someone let go by Clear Channel after over 18 years with WGAR. I hope Tim has a good run there, but from a purely selfish standpoint I just don't like this. As far as a replacement, I have one word: Lemire! Just do it!

Bina actually did a good job when he subbed for mornings on B101 even though I never looked at him at a morning personality before that. As far as Palana he is a good jock and even a good programmer but Leary is two things: funny and a family man who can bring that kind of lifestyle to his listeners. Palana isn't funny, but then he doesn't try to be. He keeps things moving. I don't know if he's a family man but that's what the station is going to be looking for. Someone who has the same busy lifestyle as his listeners. Good jocks don't always make good morning men and vice versa. Same with Bridges. He'd have to get over being a jock.
