This was long enough ago that WIGH was still a radio reading service for the visually-impaired. And it's possible I have Robertson confused with another similar commentator. It was definitely a program. (not a brief interview between songs or anything like that) I find that kind of program offensive enough that the 88.7 button got replaced with something else & haven't listened since.

I guess it's possible it might have been Dobson. Some people don't like him either, but I have more respect for him than I do Robertson. In any case to my knowledge there are no full length programs on WAY-FM now. If anyone knows anything different, feel free to correct me.

On the translator feed and satellite uplink, no full program that I know from my close affiliation and past employment with Way-Fm.. But on the local scale we always ran Focus On The Family at the Way-Stations at 10:am local time when we had younger housewives and younger office workers in the 18 to 40 group.... I dig Jim and now the new hosts about 85 to 90%, and have seen some bashing of his outfit over conservative views that used to be more mainstay.. No surprise there (with today's pundunts on both ends).... I rarely hear Pat on any Way-Fm.. Last time I heard him on any regularity was in the '88 election cycle when he came to Fort Myers (the only Way at that time)... Always remember...God and those who have any opinion on God or the subject, thereof, will always be the center of debate.... Has been for thousands of years.... I just had lunch with the top Way people while on vacation in Colorado and found the same simple, enjoying life and nothing to hide approach they had when I spent eight years with them in the beginning of the Way-Fm thing..... Bob drives a small compact and Dusty, Lloyd and the gang are just about as everyday in their look as your neighbor... Their board and corporate ethic is one that will focus on the main thing and not some out there theos...... Many different backgrounds from Protestant and Catholic theology have worked and enjoyed their time at Way.... Me, included..... The not so perfect in myself "Skip"

That leaves me out in purgatory because hell's afraid I'll take over as their PD. ;D

It's appealing to be demanding more "local" programming. I'd rather have more interesting programming. It's hard to find really good local talent anymore and even harder for the ones we have to be compelling and interesting. Local guys tend to coast on phone calls anyway and Nashville is not a city with lots of issues to drive content. And people are too busy to wait for a guy/gal to ramble into a point as I hear everyday.
Ramsey? He's entertaining because he's funny and doesn't come off as heavy handed. I don't know why anybody would benefit from advertising on his show however. All his callers are broke.
Not everybody in church is a true Christian are they? And not every host that even uses God's name acts like a Christian. There is Christian ministry sure but a lot of Business done here in the name of ministry, from big churches, to publishing (which feels gimmicky a lot ) to music (which feels predictable a lot) to groups (which seem to fail in making big impact a lot). What do you get when you mix Ministry & Business? Often, it feels like a MENANCE.

....So true.. From one end.. Stuck in a rut and can't relate the Gospel, yet shake and scratch their heads! The the extreme of Wolves In Sheeps Clothing...

Could well have been FotF.

The regular Way programming is quite good. Actually WNAZ's music is a bit more to my tastes, probably should check them more often. The offensive program in question stood out because it seemed well out of character for Way.

The separation of church and state guaranteed by the first amendment means the FCC needs to step in and require this state (FCC) licensed radio station to get all of this church talk off the air. I wonder why WTN doesn’t have any progressive or even main stream talk show hosts? Me thinks Cumulus is showing their corporate political bias?

I don't think that it is political bias...it's about knowing your market and programming it to win with ratings and more importantly revenue.

MDG, with his record of hypocrisy prior to his arrival in Nashville, reminds me of the paraphrased words of St. Francis of Assisi: "Preach the gospel at all times. Use words only if necessary."

Fred J...you need to go back and read the first admendment. It says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

You might want to read it and spend a little time with it.

Correct Buddy = most Americans have the opposite idea of what it means. Fred J...scary, sir. You want the government
to censor something? Not a good road to be going down. Let the listeners decide with ratings and revenue, NOT the
FCC.

I said in my original post that I DO turn him off and never questioned the station's right to have him on. And if he were so popular, they wouldn't have cut his show by an hour for the awful Fred Thompson Show, which, I understand is sponsored by phlegm.
Did he VOLUNTEER to take a PAY CUT when his show cut by an hour a day, like he has suggested that State Employees, Metro Employees, Federal Employees and UAW Members do?

Number one, I can't believe that this thread is still going on and on, it's like the Energizer bunny,.....
and B, 99.7's midday maniac probably did not volunteer that because, if MDJ, who negotiated his own contract, doesn't perform up to the standards set by said contract, he's toast. So, why should he? BTW, where did that question come from anyway?

Where that question and comment comes from is the MDG is always advocating the Government Employees (whether it is Federal, State or Local level) and Union workers (especially UAW members) should take pay cuts for the good of the TAX PAYERS and/or the companies they work for, I just thought he would put his MONEY where his MONTH is and set the EXAMPLE and take a pay cut!!!

MGD was on "voluntarily imposed" mandatory furlough along with the engineer (when 97.1 went off the air and had better ratings)
and a bunch of other people in a brilliant government-like cost cutting move by stupidlass. Cut the talent costs, decrease
the listenership and ratings and (if possible) revenues and save money...what a typical joke.
It was a mandatory pay decrease. Does that count?

And Delilah talks about God, so Ladytalk can't listen to Mix 92.9 either. Has anyone mentioned that?

Moot point, as I have never listened to Delilah and have no desire to. This is a great discussion, thank you.

In my original post, I simply stated that I didn't like having a radio host constantly mention their religion on a mainstream show. I don't listen to Rick and Bubba for the same reason...plus the fact that, in my opinion, they are just not that funny or entertaining. I don't hate religion, I attend services on a regular basis and I'm a Deacon in my church. I helped to lead the fight in PA to have the Ten Commandments plaque kept on the courthouse (we won). I just don't want a sermon on the radio when I want to be entertained. I feel that a person’s religion is their own business. I don't want "In God We Trust" off our money; I just want to be secularly entertained when I listen to the radio. No hate or venom on my part, I just don't like it. Nothing more or less than a personal preference.

Now, anybody have the time and place for the next Bundt meeting?
