LED ZEPPELIN

These are the LED ZEPPELIN songs that I'm not tired of hearing, and the ZEPPELIN songs that I would like to hear on the radio on the front burner . . . :

THE ROVER
WE'RE GONNA GROOVE (LIVE VERSION)
THE OCEAN (LIVE VERSION)
THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME (LIVE VERSION)
NOBODY'S FAULT BUT MINE
FOUR STICKS
HOTS ON FOR NOWHERE
I'M GONNA CRAWL
BRING IT ON HOME
WEARING AND TEARING
THAT'S THE WAY
GOOD TIMES, BAD TIMES
MISTY MOUNTIAN HOP
FOR YOUR LIFE
CAROUSELAMBRA
WALTER'S WALK
THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE
NIGHT FLIGHT
RAMBLE ON
THANK YOU (LIVE VERSION)

I vote for "In My Time Of Dying" (live)...which is on the DVD package (and smokes).

Also, "The Song Remains The Same" into "The Rain Song" from the film's soundtrack (Song Remains The Same). They must be played together. Kinda like Seger's "Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser".

When I saw Zep in '77 they opened with "The Song Remains The Same" and it was powerful. When they got into their groove (Bonham, Jones & Page) they were like a frikkin' hurricane.

I'm not tired of any Led Zep song, even the ones that have gotten the most airplay. I have more appreciation for them now than when I was younger. I am in awe of what a good band they were.

My thoughts exactly ! ! ! I think it's almost criminal for Rock radio stations to not play the live version, in favor of lame studio version. There's no comparision! The studio version is for wimps. The live version is for Rockers!!!

Also, for back-to-back songs, I really prefer, from the Soundtrack, "Black Dog".... a little bit of talking.... and right on in to the fantastic live version of "Since I've Been Loving You". Page really smokes that one ! ! ! Now those are some tunes that really need to be officially relased on CD !!!!

there was once a station that would play all of those songs...97.5 The Hawk, but idiots turned it into jazz...so no more get the led out or any zep period (or at least not much)

Greater Media was not going to own 2 classic rock stations in the Philly market. They would just be compeating against eachother.

and may i add i never want to hear ever again..

stairway to heaven..

can we please give this song a funeral and bury it!!

Could you imagine. If Led Zeppelin decided to reunite? And go on tour. Tickets would be sold-out in under 10 minutes.

Favorite Zeppelin tunes: Some do get airplay.

In The Evening
Tangerine
Communication Breakdown
The Ocean
I Can't Quit You Baby
How Many More Times
Going To California
The Lemon Song
Travelling Riverside Blues

Wow.. we got it worse than i thought here in Syracuse, NY. if our (alleged) Classic rock station TK-99 actually had to play a Led Zeppelin song that wasn't Stairway to Heaven, I think the station would melt or something bad might happen.

The only time I hear any Zeppelin that isn't considered mainstream, ex: Black Dog, Rock n Roll, Stairway etc... is when i pop in my own CD's or play my old albums.

I'll never hear The Rain Song, Carouselambra
or We're gonna Grove in this s*itty city with Total Krock 99 as the only Classic rock (allaegedly) station in the city.

The only time I even come close to hearing anything like that on radio here is when i occasionaly get the signal from I-100 out of Ithaca or 99.3 The Wall, out of Seneca Falls I think.

Woe is me...

I actually have not heard STH on the Corporate Classic Rock stations in a very long time. I certainlay do not miss STH. It was so overplayed in the 70's that I may never want to hear it again. But than there are so MANY songs by so many bands that I do not want to hear again because of Radio overplay. I do understand though, when youth discover STH and want to hear it. I don't begrudge them for that. STH was NEVER the reason that went to a LZ concert in the 70's. My favorite Live songs were Heartbreaker, Bring It On Home, WLL, Kashmir, Dazed And Confused, TSRTS, and Trampled Underfoot.

I would say that Zeppelin's greatest live songs were "Kashmir" in 1977, and "Dazed And Confused" in 1975, and "Whole Lotta Love" in 1970.

Today, The Bone, one of Dallas's "ROCK" stations, played some Led Zeppelin : "D'Yer M'ker" [That's the best "Rock" song by Zeppelin that they could come up with ?? WoW, I am so Under-impressed!!!!!] That was followed by some Lynard Skynerd -- "Sweet Home Alabama"---- Music to my Ears..... That is---- If I was an alcoholic / Pool Hall / Loser.... Which I a not ! --- I am, a fan of non-commercial Rock Music. Not the bizzare.... just something other than "AM Hits".... which ideally for me, should be regulated back to the "AM" band, to leave FM for Progressive music of all types. Until then.... HELL REIGNS.

Re: LED ZEPPELIN vs. QUEEN/The BEATLES vs. THE STONES

I'm SO SICK of Zeppelin as every other song on the radio.
They're just like The Beatles, get exharbent air play.
"Get the Led Out" and "Breakfast with The Beatles"
How About "Hail to the Queen" and "Supper with The Stones"
Queen and The Stones have plenty of HARD ROCKIN' tunes that were never heard on the radio.

The best Led Zeppelin song that never gets played?

Boogie With Stu

I just have to chime in and agree w/ most of the posts:
1. Too many "common songs' overplayed to ad nauseum (death would be better).
2. Not enough live songs or great album sides that one rarely, if ever hears.
3. "Stairway to Heaven" along with AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell" are super over played songs (is there a subtle message out there?)
I have a a Zeppelin live VHS tape (does that date me?) and a live CD which I enjoy 2 or 3X/yr.

I never get tired of hearing The Immigrant Song. Great bass, great vocals, drums and guitar, packaged nicely into a 2 1/2 minute long box. It is the polar opposite of Stairway.

I could go awhile without hearing another Zep song to be frank. Classic rock radio has ruined them for me.

I'm too big a Zep fan for "Classic Rock" Radio t ruin the band for me..... Certain songs....
I just hit the next push-button.....

I don't blame anyone with good taste too be sick of hearing songs from any great band, after hearing what Classic Rock radio programming has dumped on them, repeatedly!!

If Classic Rock radio had never existed, or ceased to exist tomorrow, it would be NO musical loss for me. I love Rock, and I HATE Classic Rock programming. It is E-V-I-L ! !

Amen!

When I was growing up in the early 80's, I wasn't really a big Zeppelin fan, and I was one of those punks that used to bitch about Stairway being the most played out song of all time, but as time has gone on, I realized how great Zeppelin really was, and how much influence they had on EVERY rock back that came in their wake. I can listen to ANY Zep tune and it still has the same impact as the first time I heard it. Having said that, I really wish more rock stations would play the longer album cuts that rarely get airtime: Achilles, Since I've Been Loving You, You Shook Me, Ten Years Gone, The Rover, Four Sticks, In My Time Of Dying, In The Light, ect.

--------------------------------
LZ I ,IV and HOTH each got 4 tracks -- Here's what I would have added and deleted. I haven't worked out any of the times yet -- does anyone know if Pagey is going to take up tracks space with some more unneeded bonus videos on the "CD" set ? ?

I would delete CB.

I would add Bring It On Home or Thank You.

I would delete Immigrant Song and add That's The Way.

I would delete When The Levee Breaks, and add Misty Mountain Hop and Four Sticks or Going to Califorina.

I would delete TSRTS, Over the Hills and Far Away, and, D'Yer Maker, and, I would add The Rain Song and The Ocean.

I would delete HOTH, and add The Rover and Down By The Seaside.

I would delete Achilles Last Stand, and in it's place makeing room for some songs (above), and add For Your Life, Candy Store Rock, or Hots on For Nowhere.

I would delete All MY Love and add Hot Dog or I'm Gonna Crawl.

I would find a way to include We're Gonna Groove also.

The title of the new relases as it stands should more aptly be:

The Mothership of Led Zeppelin -- Corporate Classic Rock Style ;D ???

The re-mastered DVD and CD's for the movie TSRTS should be interesting.....
New tracks added, etc... :D
