Just heard that fast talking DJ Jack Armstrong was found dead in his home over the weekend. Cause was possibly a fall. He was 62. He worked at many stations in the U.S. and Canada in the '60's and '70's and was in the Guiness Book of World Records as the fastest talking human alive.

Lots of aircheck links, and Youtube video, of Jack on the Cleveland and Raleigh/Greensboro boards.

Jack's last fulltime gig was doing am drive for Entercom oldies WMQX/Oldies 93 Greensboro/Winston-Salem NC, now a "Wolf" format.

The YouTube stuff of Jack is at the WMJI/WIXY Cleveland Reunion Weekend circa 1988, and of KKHR/Los Angeles.

The WMJI/WIXY vid originally taken by Art Vuolo.

Great stuff.

More Jack also at http://www.wixy1260.com/

And Big Apple Airchecks plans a tribute to be posted by Friday www.bigappleairchecks.com

Arguably two of the best airchecks out there... Jack at KFRC for the "Virgin Sturgeon" broadcast, and at WNBC for ONE night as the "Unknown DJ".

More than 20 Jack airchecks at www.reelradio.com

He went by many names; Jack Armstrong... "The All-American Boy"... "Motormouth"... "The Fastest Mouth on Radio"...."Big Jack"....and of course... "Your LEEEEDUH!!"

One of a kind. Jack now spinning the hits for the night show in RNR Heaven.

Jack Armstrong was a good man and a legend in radio. I only knew him for a few years, however, he was a man and knew the business. He had been fired before and never took the Oldies 93 fiasco personal. This is a time for Jack, not a time to fight old wars.
Jack and the Gorilla are in heaven now holding court with all of the other music legends. Let's remember that!

Well said Dave. He was a great individual. Saw that You Tube of the WIXY-1260 reunion (thanks Joe Madigan for the link!) and he was talking with Jim LaBarbara on the phone over the air and praised the music professor up and down on the air saying he deserved to be on AT40 ...not Shadow Stevens. (last time I heard The Prof is at a C&W station in northern KY at present.)

My best to all of Jackson's kids...may God comsole them all.

Dear Jim LaBarbera:

You did a superb job at the when you DJ'd my wife's best freind's daughter's wedding last summer at the Chateau Pomije in SE Indiana. Wanted to meet to speak with you but you were especially busy at thet particular time. My prayers go with you. You always did an equally superb job at WLW and WGRR..... surely Jackson was like a brother to you at WIXY....no doubt in my mind!
