Legends in Atlanta

CC signed on a new Country station in Atlanta called "Legends". I listened through streaming. I'd like to get other folks take on it, but it sounds pretty good. The only thing I thought odd is they're playing stuff as recent as Garth and Dixie Chicks. I don't know what I think about them mixed with Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, and Loretta Lynn. Any comments?
 
As the #1 country artist of all time, Garth is going to be in the format, with his early stuff.

Dixie Chicks however...nah!

Their using the same imaging voice as others that have flipped to classic country. It sounds good!

Just glad that this format, and oldies/classic hits are finding their way to radio.
 
dixie chicks are real country. therefore the legends (real country) format is playing them. now if they were playing faith hill then there would be no reason to listen
 
Depends on the station's definition of legends...

Most cut it at 1989 .. kind of a pre vs post Garth Brooks country landscape.


Others choose 10 years (1998), 5 years (2003) , or 2000 (end of the century) as their cut offs.

I've heard WSM and KWKH , two of the most well known legend stations playing country from this century (5 years out)
 
I can buy Garth,George Strait,The Judds & Alabama.....but The Dixie Chicks.....NO WAY!

Heck, I've heard Redneck Yacht Club on WSM.

I'd put Chicks on a "legends" country station if it was based on sound alone.
