we used to joke around way back in 1980 when I worked part time at wgpa that the call letters stood for We've Got Poor Announcers. Thought that may amuse some and it is not intended as a smack at the current jocks there.

I honestly don't listen to enough local commerical radio to have a lot of insight here. Gunther's skills are fine, but I frankly dislike WAEB's format nowadays. I listen to WAEB for the traffic and AccuWeather, WEEU for traffic, weather, local sports, and Charlie Adams' banter with Mitch Gerhart (Gerhart is a bright guy...you hear it in his wordplay...). Other than that it's WDIY / KYW / WHYY and Sirius.
Of course, at age 48, I am not in a desirable demographic for most commercial stations (except WAEB and WEST, I reckon...).

That would be JERRY Paul. But alas, you are correct, Jerry has moved on. And he doesn't use that fake name anymore either.
