Lehigh Valley radio: What a week it's been!

Apparently WRFY / 102.5 is now more of a classic hits station.

Then WXLV-FM disappears to become a partner of WDIY-FM.

Then WBYN / 107.5 flips format.

Tough to keep track of all these changes, but I'm not sure the region requires two new classic hits stations, though I personally am more likely to listen to that format than anything country / metal / urban / oldies format.

Speaking of WXLV, I've noticed they are now simulcasting WDIY and WDIY is identifying themselves as WDIY Allentown and WXLV Schnecksville. Even though this simulcasting isn't going to be permanent, WDIY must be loving the boost to their coverage area. 90.3 puts out a nice signal in comparison to weak little 88.1 Allentown, 93.7 Trexlertown, and 93.9 Easton.
______________

I looked at the Radio-Locator maps and really didn't see all that much difference in the overall coverage area.

WXLV fights with WJTL (Lancaster) near Kutztown.

However, I wonder if the endgame will see WXLV on 88.1 and WDIY on 90.3.

Radio-Locator's maps aren't always the most true. I notice a big difference in signals. 90.3 makes it much farther west, into areas of Berks where WDIY is unlistenable.
______________

All except the WXLV scenario. The rest has nothing to do with the Allentown Market.

I beg to disagree. WRFY / 102.5 puts in a very good signal into Allentown. I know it's a station of choice in some fitness clubs in the Lehigh Valley.

WBYN / 107.5 covered the Lehigh Valley with a strong signal, and had Allentown businesses among its advertisers.

While the sales folks and FCC might consider both stations "Reading" stations due to their locations, both stations nonetheless affect listeners' choices in the Lehigh Valley. WBYN might have been off the Arbitron radar screen in the LV due to its format, but it will be interesting if it now shows up with Classic Hits programming.

I think that's pretty accurate. I'm near Palm, between the two. What do we listen to mostly?

WBYN as 107.5 Alive
WRFY
WLEV
WODE
WKAP
WBYO
WJJZ
WSNI
Before country went down the toilet- WIOV, WCTO (the Cat went down the john slightly ahead of the music)

Even in South Whitehall (near Dorney Park), I listen to WEEU instead of WKAP for Phillies games due to groundwave / skywave phase cancellation from WKAP.

The Lehigh Valley radio choices include Philly, LV, Reading, and Boyertown stations. I believe only Philly's KYW had enough LV listeners to factor in the Arbitron ratings.
