Len Berman & Todd Schnitt to WOR mornings 1/26

Salem's Kevin Jackson.........And to think I booked him on a radio show 3 years ago for MLK day and salem refused to interview me for a job working with joe piscopo........because i am too old.

A related point:

I was reading a post on another board about how the new morning show does nothing to improve the diversity of the hosts on WOR. They're all 50+ white men.

You'll find that post on the NYRMB in between the ones evangelizing Bob Grant as the best thing ever to happen to radio, and a bunch of old white men pontificating over "What Would Martin Luther King Say About Hard Core Rap?"

Grant, of course, infamously pioneered the kind of racist, hate mongering conservative talk radio that paved the way for today's demise of the AM band. And the not-so-thinly-veiled racist undertones of the MLK thread only further reveal the kind of participants who are active on that forum, and who are sadly drawn to commercial talk radio in general.

The original observation is correct, the only female host on WOR has been ousted to make way for another team of 50+ white men (or at least nearly 50, in Schnitt's case). I was a fan of Len Berman's TV sportscasts but I can't see how this show will do anything but perpetuate the negative stereotype of conservative AM talk radio today.

Besides Howard Stern, very few morning radio hosts have been good. The shows on WABC and WOR are there to surround the news and traffic reports. For example, WOR had Ed Walsh as a morning host for years, and he wasn't the most entertaining host. Curtis and Kuby were a larger show in mornings than in afternoons, because they had the advantage of people tuning in to hear the reports, and not everyone wants to listen to music that early. Imagine what kind of ratings Don Imus would get if he wasn't on in the morning. I don't know if this show will be good, but it's not the end of the world.

Most of the posters on that board are liberal, and Allan deletes more posts from conservative posters than from liberal posters.

Schnitt will do am-drive on WOR & a syndicated pm--drive show on other stations ?
Seems like WOR may be shooting itself in the head again. And, let's see how long
Berman & Schnitt like getting up at 4am or earlier.

was WOR paying off Segal during the past year? the reason for waiting a year to hire Schnitt ?

It is what it is. In your view, it's negative. To those who like it, it's not.

No Big A what hard core rap is is an acknowledgement of their status in life that's why they are always using the N word...they know what they are.

We dont have a race problem in America but we sure do have a functional illiteracy one. Mike Brown "graduated" from the 2nd worst school in all of st louis metro, so what was his HS diploma worth?

do i have to spell it out for you? they are not black but N's

Aw, what a spoiler. The quintessential conservative talk radio proponent spells out the phrase they all wish to shout on air from their golden microphone podiums every day.

Richard, I do agree with you on one point. Salem should have hired you. You would have been a perfect fit.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. Just the same old crap over and over.

I think RS is replying to a thread in some parallel universe.

It's what you call sinking any chance of a radio career.

If I finally meet some smart people they will understand I am ahead of the curve and you will be talking about this in 2-3 years. Ohbama legacy is the death of political correctness and everything is on the table including race......

I've listened to him on and off over the years. He sounds like Hannity imitating Rush. He reads his topics from a "Schnitt" List and he takes lots of calls. He'll be 49 years old this week.

JMHO

I always thought Hannnity sounded like he was reading everything he said. I think he's better at TV... Everyone in Talk radio is a Rush Clone. Especially Glenn Beck..but his is Rush+Tammy Faye Bakker.
