Leo is a smart dude. He has the heritage morning show and one of the best airstaffs in town. When I was there I never got the impression they thought of WIOQ as their only competitor. Philly has never been able to support 2 CHRS. Wired, IMHO, is not CHR. They've carved out their own niche in the market, and while the 12+ isn't as big as IOQ, it's a significant and profitable niche. Q102 is riding high on the "mommy and me" phase of the music cycle. When CHR goes AC in the next year or so, as it does every decade, Wired will be the better positioned station if you must compare the 2.
Dan said:CHR going AC? I doubt it. Rhythmic music is here to stay, but it's not hip-hop anymore and Wired plays way too much of it. If anythireng, it's AC and especially Hot AC that is sounding much more like CHR these days.

You have amnesia? Cycles of popular music are a documented fact. Cycle 1. Pop Cycle 2. AC Cycle 3. Rock Cycle 4. Urban/Dance.
Lather, rinse, repeat. Rythmic music IS here to stay, just not on CHR.
Would anyone here like to further educate this poster? Frankly, I don't have the energy today.![]()
Dan said:Can you name me the last time AC or Rock came into popularity on CHR? Oh, it hasn't happened since the 90's when hip-hop began to dominate. Fact of the matter is rock or AC is not coming back to CHR on any mass scale.
