Leon Bibb no longer 6pm anchor at WEWS

Well, they didn't bring Flanagan in just to do the 11 p.m. news.

This was in the works for awhile...Flanagan started just doing the 11 p.m. show to get the viewers familiarized with him. Once he (and the viewers) got settled in, he also got the 6 p.m. newscast as well...which looks like was the plan all along.

Leon's 67...he probably is happy he doesn't have 10 hour days to grind through anymore doing both the noon and 6 p.m. news.

He's still got the noon newscast, his Sunday morning show, plus his feature stories will be all over the place on the evening shows...it's not like he's leaving.

Chris Flanagan was brought in to (at least attempt to) try to be the main anchor at WEWS after 3 years of Bibb/Jordan/Harris mixing and matching in the evening to try to fill the shoes of Ted Henry.

Flanagan's probably better off having some time pass after Henry's retirement, because if he would have came in right on Ted's heels...he wouldn't have had a prayer.

He's got the ball, so now he has to run with it and see how far he can go.

I've noticed Leon filling in at 6PM on Friday and again today. In fact, some of their anchors have been taking time off during sweeps. Kind of odd for that to happen, though I'm hoping they don't make yet another anchor change. They've made several last year and this year too.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

All the main anchors were going full bore during election season (on all stations), so now it's time for some R & R.

This is the tail end of the sweeps season (officially ends Wednesday), and everyone's fried from the election coverage, so the vacation period is probably starting a tad early.
