Les Acree

From Gil over on the country boards:

Les (Acree)had a massive stroke Sunday morning in Memphis, TN. He's in ICU at Baptist Hospital there... they don't know the extent of damage yet... He was brought out of a drug-induced coma Monday, and was able to recognize his son Ryan Monday afternoon, althought he was unable to speak. He's currently running a fever, and that's keeping the docs from relieving the blockage that caused the stroke.

Please keep Les and his family in your prayers...

Also, I'm not sure if he'd want to be identified here, but there is a really good guy in the Memphis radio engineering world who just lost his wife. I worked for him for a few years and he's a great guy. Prayers to everyone...

I visited Les this evening at 6 pm central. He is still in ICU. He is off the ventilator, but is taking oxygen and being fed through a tube.. He is awake and was aware that I was there. In fact, he smiled when his brother told him I was there.

I don't know the extent of the damage. His brother edidn't want to do a lot of talking in front of Les. When I know more, I'll pass on to all.

(from AllAboutCountry.com)

Les has been moved from Baptist Hospital to Baptist Rehabilition Center in Germantown, Tenn. His sister, Geri, who has been keeping AllAboutCountry up to date on his progress, files this Thursday (4/26) report, “They moved him late yesterday afternoon, Just 10 days after his stroke. So basically in 10 days he has gone from ‘we don’t know if he is going to make it’ to a Rehab Center. That’s remarkable progress. His son and daughter-in-law are in town and we visited last night.

[EDIT]

You can send Les a card @ Les Acree, 3427 Earlynn Dr., Bartlett, TN 38133

The Les Acree Benefit Fund Launched
From an idea generated by veteran music executive, Gerrie McDowell and coordinated with Les’ sister Geri, music and radio industries have formed a trust for Les Acree through SunTrust in Nashville. This fund will be used to help defray the cost of Les’ hospitalization and recuperation.
Those wishing to donate may do so through the

His sister, Geri was so relieved to know something was being done, because the next couple of months are so important. As Geri said, “Two weeks of rehab then he will be moved into a nursing home and they must continue with his rehabilitation, this money will help immensely”.

For more information, contact Gerrie McDowell @ [email protected].
