I was wondering, did WOGL do anything for the passing of this fantastic artist, any music played by her. I know when some R&B or Motown act passes Tommy and Harvey go nuts worshipping them and playing their music non-stop, so I doubt anything was done. I don't listen to WOGL so I was curious. If the night host was in control, I know he would do a special on her, but his hands are tied.

Many venues remembered Lesley Gore.

But nobody noted "The Look of Love" by Lesley Gore as one the greats of teen angst.

I thought it was interesting that she passed on the song "Groovy Kind of Love." Her label thought the word "groovy" was inappropriate for a teenage girl.

My late pal bought a Lesley Gore box-set of like 104 songs, I had no idea she had that many. He sent me a few via cassette.

I got to hear many of them this past week via three different internet stations : Top Shelf Oldies, Rewound Radio, and Oldies Your Way. Not only do I turn up my nose and turn off my ears to terrestrial radio stations (especially big-market ones) , but I'm certain that this time around I didn't miss any fond farewells for America's favorite Kid Sister.

Lesley Sue Goldstein singlehandedly owned a big chunk of 1963 with what amounted to a string of mini-anthems. Carly Simon was to do the same in the early 70s.
But .....
1963 was jettisoned a while ago by stations that might not exist in 2015 if it hadn't been for that music. And even though Carly Simon and Carole King themselves helped guide pop-progressive into the AoR it became, Classic Rock stations aren't going to do a good job of saluting them in anyway for the remainder of the format's life.

Yeah, I'm way out of the demo targeted by 'Classic Hits', I know. I'm nearly as useless to the targeted Classic Rock realm. Thankfully, there are internet music stations and private music collections which don't consider me and others my age as people whose intelligence exist to be insulted.
