Less Is More Is GONE

Had a chat with an old friend a the CC cluster in Dallas. Goodbye to Less Is More. PD's are free to place spots where they want in many CC markets and some have doubled unit loads. Not sure what is going on in Seattle, though I heard a break on KJR that was five minutes long. Guess the 2 1/2 minute rule four times an hour is gone.

I guess since Clear Channel is being sold, time to rake in the profits.

I don't know where you get your info, but all of the major market PDs that I talk to tell me LIM is still in effect.

By the way, there never was a "2 1/2 minute rule". The structure for music stations, in simple terms...
  • no more than 10 minutes of spots per hour
  • no more than 4 minutes of spots per break
  • at least 3 breaks per hour
That would usualy equate to one 4 minute and two 3 minute breaks. Of couse there was a "total unit cap" per pod, as well. This means a certain percentage had to be 30s and 15s. 30s always ran first and last. The first position in the stopset was to be sold at a premium rate. (Usually around the same price for a :60 that's placed later in the pod)

LIM was a good idea. It still is. Limit commercial matter so the listeners can still enjoy the product. What a novel concept.

It was just to little, too late.

Boy, TakeItFromMe, don't 'cha just hate it when somebody who knows what they are talking about follows up one of your uninformed posts with the actual story?

Give us some proof to back this up.

Also, which radio stations have "doubled their unit loads?"
