Let me get this straight....

Two weeks ago Clear Channel ,during it's nationwide bloodbath/budget cuts, let Steve Coates go from the KISS in the morning show...Apparently he made too much...How much? I have no clue, but too much for Clear Channel...Now, two weeks later I see on Allaccess the following ad..."

What an absolute kick in the crotch this must be to Steve... So money was more important than chemistry.. The part of the ad that really jumps out is this:

"Check your ego at the door, and come prepared to learn, grow, and prosper in a team environment. It's not about the salary, it's about the opportunity."

Oh that's just freaking great...So all candidates need to be talented, energetic, and above all CHEAP!!!! As long as you're willing to take 20k a year the job is yours...Better yet, maybe they'll make it a "part-time" position, thus saving money on benefits...
If Courtney has any balls, and assuming they got along behind the scenes, I think she should march into the pd's office and demand they hire Steve back..Of course she won't, they won't hire him back and I'm sure he wouldn't come back for what the position now pays.... It is a very, very sad state of affairs.....

One more thing, any news on Sky Daniels?...I don't recall hearing him on KISS , Country 92.5 or The River...I guess he could just be on vacation, but there was also an ad on Allaccess ( two actually )for a fulltime announcer, including traffic, voicetracking and weekends on The River....If you've heard anything, I'd be curious...
 
No, I recall reading that Sky Daniels was gone too.
Kiss is a sinking ship. Courtney should get out while she can too.
 
Sky Daniels was also one of Clear Channels cast offs, which is too bad. He wasn't your typical traffic drone, who read verbatim, the "hot spots" and sponsor. And for what? to cut costs for the Clear Channel sale?. Sad state of affairs. Some talented people were sacrificed for the bottom line.
 
Are you 100 % sure Steve Coates was let go ? Or are you making the assumtion based on hearsay?

I have talked to Steve several times in the past and know of his intense interest of political news.
Lets not forget that his wife just had another child, and if Clear channel were to let him go without just cause they would be open for legal action, which I'm positive they already know.
Also there is the fact that he resides quite a distance from the Hartford studios, which in this day and age is huge gamble on gas milage.
My personal feeling is Steve moved on to greener pastures higher up into the broadcasting industry.
 
yes - steve was let go. so was skye daniels, adam ax, bob plante and others in the cc hartford building.
this is all fact - not heresay.
 
The bottom line is Clear Channel should be changed to CHEAP Channel!! They are the cheapest Communications company in the US and yet they are ruining many of their solid stations by getting rid of people and/or letting them leave... just like KTU in NYC. Vic Latino, Broadway Bill Lee, etc. It's just sad how a station can go from being great to being a dud!

Boycott Cheap Channel!!! lol

Hmmmm, let's take a look at this..
Clear Channel has nationwide budget cuts, Steve Coates is no longer with Kiss and it's reported on Radio& Records that he was let go along with others in Hartford...I'll say it's a fact. No offense but I'll take the word of R&R and Allacess over you "personal feelings" any day. Out of curiosity, anybody sending their package for the co-host gig?...
 
Let's figure this is just another way to make money. Isn't that the primary reason for Clear Channel's existance? They'll build up confidence in their product and then go public in a couple years and rake in a bundle. It's just business. (sigh)
 
Lets put this into a different perspective shall we ?

What would you think if you were a stock holder of Clear Channel ?

Would you still think they are being cheap ?

It never ceases to amaze me how people on this board talk about radio like, its a privately owned entity, like the owner is going to come here read your posts and make changes specifly for you(the poster) and your liking.
