Don't think of it as 3 more shopping days till Christmas - think of it as Four and a Half Days till Freedom from Christmas Music. Pete Falconi, are you listening?

Hark The Herald - and not the Track Gals

Not sure exactly when they'll go back to regular music--Dec 26? Dec 27?
Great! Maybe when they come back they can offer a bit more variety...

Meanwhile (plug, plug) WMWM is most likely doing automated music over the
Christmas break--jazz, smooth jazz, and some Christmas tunes. Yes, 24 hrs a day!
Which means I can listen to something besides Leveille, Noory, Fox Sports Radio,
and Christmas 103.3 on my way home from work in the wee hours.<P ID="signature">______________

Once I worked for an AC radio station in San Diego, and we didn't stop the Christmas music until minday, December 31, kicking off the new year with "Comming to American" by Neil Diamond.

I'm sure the returns desk employees loved it.

used to be that most AC's, and some CHR's, would continue with a seasonal tune or two through New Year's day. WHDH & WBZ would work in one an hour, including the New Year's Themed things like Manilow & Fogelberg.
Now, most pull the plug on the yule toons sometime Christmas day, usually late afternoon, early evening.

currently up in Maine, our Oldies station (Oldies 100.9) is wall-to-wall, but thank God for the resurgence of core Oldies artists who have cranked out some fresh sounding seasonal songs, such as Ron Dante's "Rock&Roll Christmas."
we began with a tune every other hour after Thanksgiving, then holiday themed weekends leading up to "The 12 Days of Christmas" (started 12 days BEFORE Christmas, which is contrary to the meaning of the 12 days, but that's another thread), we put the holiday tunes away late 12/25. we won't spin another until our first heatwave sometime in late July, early August. nothin' like Ronnie Spector's "Sleigh Ride" to help cool things off when it's 81 degrees at 7am.

According to their recorded promos, Greatest Hits of The 60's and 70's return Monday December 26th.
