Let Us Not Forget The LOCAL "Dick Clark"!

You can laugh and snicker but there's no doubt some of us have worked in the prescence of the Dick Clark of Altoona....Dick D'Andrea. Of all the people who have been on the air in the market, nobody even comes close to DD when it comes to professionalism, execution and popularity. If you had the chance to work with him there were no prima dona issues like with others. Dick has the confidence he knows what he's doing and doesn't need to act like an ass in the process. He wasn't after your job, he wasn't out to stab you in the back or spread rumors about you. He was and is a pro...plain and simple. Let's remember him while we still have a chance to hear him!

I worked with DiAndrea fifty years ago and have gleefully followed his adventures and accomplishments since. This good guy is one in a million. Will he have any more record hop reunions? Dick and Big John Riley will always be my favorites. Truly unforgettable.

I had the opportunity to work with Dick for a few months at WALY before I left for Upstate New York. He was a blast and I had a lot of fun. He was great to play off of. And I discovered that anything AND I mean anything could come out of his mouth! On the air!!! I'm glad that he's still on the radio and I enjoy listening to him and Charlie. And I can see all these years later he's still saying ANYTHING on-the-air! I just sit and shake my head as I'm sure Charlie is doing at the same time.
