Let's be honest about Paul Barsky

No hate for Barsk here, maybe "indifference" is a better word? Oh, and here is the incomplete back of his bubble gum card as per Wikipedia...how's that song go..."been around the world and IIIIII can't find my baby..."

1982 - 1985 WCAU
1985 - 1987 WLS-FM (Chicago)
Ownership
1991 - 1993 KRBE (Houston)
1993 - 1998(?) WPLY
1998 - 2006 WMMR, WPTP, out of work (Beasley settlement...guess Barsk wasn't down wit da hoodie-wired programmer gig)
2006 - 2007 WYSP

Paul Barsky began his Philadelphia radio career in 1982 when he was hired by WCAU-FM to host their morning drive. When Barsky left WCAU-FM in 1985, his morning show, "Hot Hits," had turned into a ratings leader and was one of the most listened to Top 40 shows in the country. After WCAU-FM, Barsky brought his talents to Chicago, one of the nation's most competitive radio markets, where in two years at WLS-FM, he took his morning show from 20th place in the ratings book to a 5th place ranking.

After a brief stint in station ownership[citation needed], Barsky longed to return to his first love[citation needed], morning radio, and in 1991 he joined Houston's KRBE[citation needed], hosting the morning drive show. Barsky returned to Philly in 1993 to take over the morning drive time slot at WPLY, where he turned "The Barsky Show" into one of the market's top rated shows. He also eventually served as the morning host at WMMR.

Prior to his most recent gig at WYSP, Barsky worked at WPTP 96.5, "The Point," owned by Beasley Broadcasting Group Inc (BBGI). Barsky was not only morning DJ, but also program manager. BBGI suddenly made a format change at WPTP and Barsky lost his morning show. He was still retained as program manager, but soon left. A lawsuit for breach of contract was filed by Barsky[citation needed], leading to a settlement out-of-court[citation needed]. Rumor has it that Barsky relocated to Florida[citation needed], but soon after the long court proceedings[citation needed], Barsky was announced and appeared as a new DJ on WYSP after Howard Stern's move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January 2006.

On September 12th, 2007, WYSP announced that it would be changing its format to a "rock & talk" station, and the Barsky Show was dropped from the WYSP lineup (along with the Matt & Huggy Show, and the Scotty and Alex), and would be replaced with rock music. Kim Douglas was let go from the station and plans to resume her first love of auto racing, but Barksy and Vinnie have been retained, with Vinnie doing the Eagles football pre-game show and Barsky being left in a as-of-now unknown job at the station.

Which ever one of you is, or is not Barsky, I would suggest updating the Wiki info.

The unbridled Barsky hatred and the undocumented allegations of people who don't pile on as being Barsky himself or one of his colleagues is petty and pathetic. Like another posted, I met him as an intern; unlike that posted I found him to be a jerk, but that's neither here nor there. He's had some tough assignments and brings something to the table that stations want, and that's what counts.

So he's had several jobs in the city? Big deal. It makes for a funny joke to guess how long it will take for him to be at B 101, the venom doesn't make sense. Free FM was a train wreck, and if you can think of anyone short of bringing back Stern who could have singlehandedly been a breakout success in that slot, please share.

I thought this was a joke thread! Honestly I'm amazed how much people actually care if Barsky is here, there, or anywhere?!?!?

In other posts I've said that I've listened to pretty much every show he's had in the Philly market. If he's not around it's no big deal, if he comes back again, I'll probably tune in to see how the current show works out. I've also posted pretty openly that I hated the YSP version of his show, so please don't accuse me of being Paul.

But to my original thought...unless you have some jealousy towards the guy, or a weird obsession with him, who really cares?
