(my apologies for not seeing a bit of this discussion in the other thread)

the decision to break up Mayes and Bruno was just embarrassing...especially considering they decided to pair Tony with Marks.

Tony's strength is his ability to be a goof and to laugh and to have a good time for a few hours.....Harry Mayes perfectly brought that out in Tony....

now, Tony has become Mr Serious for a lot of the time and his show is awful with him and Marks.....

Harry is terrible alone also.

there is absolutely NO reason to listen to that station other than from 2-6 now thanks to the geniuses at that station
 
WPEN cant seem to do anything right...since the day it became ESPN...the first bad move......how many times has WPEN made management changes.....people in philly want to talk local sports....and WPEN doesnt want to spend the money to pay local sport jocks.to do live and local 24 hours a day.....they just want to peddle the same old tired out DISNEY/ ESPN garbage network...maybe their ratings would improve with a 24 hour a day polka channel...but they probably would screw that up as well....just bad management decisions...any dope could get better ratings on those stations.....
 
Do not understand the station decision making here. They are pretty much required to carry Mike + Mike which is a handicap but not one that couldnt be overcome with sound programming the rest of the day. But the lineup is such a mess that I am not surprised by the horrible ratings.

Truth be told MIke + Mike is far and away the best show on 97.5.

If I were the programming director at 97.5 the first thing I would do is get all these kids,interns, engineers, guys pulled out of moms basement off the radio and back behind the scenes where the belong. I dont need to hear Joe Eunice talking about betting SW Missouri St, I dont need to hear about some guy with' no experience talking about wrestling. I dont need to hear some greenhorn tell me something I dont already know.

Go get some talent. Grab some of the part timers from WIP for the weekends/fill ins. Jolovitz,Startare,Ruben Frank etc..

WEEI in Boston is an ESPN affiliate and they do not air the Mike & Mike Show. They have a local morning show. How come other ESPN affiliates are required to air Mike & Mike but WEEI in Boston does not?

In-the coming weekend the am/fm of weei will be paired off fm will be local,and the am will be espn 24/7!! Before espn was just happy to have some sort of clearance in-the Boston market considering they have espnboston.com.

Would it really matter if 97.5 had a local morning show? The program director would pay a buck three eighty to 2 ill-qualified hosts and nobody would listen anyway.
 
Here's a crazy idea:
If GM wants to jump start its sports station, it should move Preston and Steve over to 97.5. Preston & Steve on WPEN in 2012 could be like Imus on WFAN in 1988.

They could program something with more music in the morning on WMMR.
 
I guess John DeBella and Howard Eskin's SportsRock on WMMR in the early 90's in not considered 'recent memory'. LOL.

I don't want P&S to do a sports show. I want them to do their current show, the same one they're doing now, on a sports station.
 
MMR is one of Greater Media's "money stations" in Philly. You don't sacrifice the product on a money maker for a sports station. Preston & Steve will and should stay where they are.
 
Yup. Such a brilliant move. Over 30 minutes into the show, they finally get the first call....and I am sure someone called Dr Rob and told him to please call the show.

A few weeks in and this stupid decision has made me even more angry. and such brilliance to moving Tony to 10 so Mike Miss has NO lead in to his show

When will the complete dope that made these decisions get fired? it is so embarrassing. The show is so awful and I feel bad for Tony.

The future of radio is not in music formats. This is why CBS is pushing so hard nationwide to launch sports formats on FM.

P&S don't really "fit the format" of either station. They don't talk sports. But they don't play rock music either. GM will get the same revenue from P&S in mornings no matter which station they're on. The question is, on which station will they be more likely to drive listening the rest of the day. I think at this point in their careers, they fit better on a sports talk station than a rock station whose rest of the day programming probably skews younger than the P&S audience. I also don't think putting a "DJ who talks" on in the morning on MMR will torpedo their ratings.

What would get better total ratings in the morning? P&S on MMR plus Mike & Mike on 97.5 and 950? Or P&S on 97.5, Jaxon on MMR, and Mike & Mike on 950?

So, it is perfectly acceptable to blow up a whole station group in a top ten radio market? Yeah, that's worse than Russian roulette in my book...

The rope that this 97.5 programming director has is seemingly endless. IMO The guy has made a hailstorm of bad moves, he and is heavily amateurish staff shouldn't be working in a market the size of Philadephia .

I think its just a matter of time but it seems Ive been saying that for the past 2-3 years.
 
How low can the ratings go?

Anyone have any feedback(postitive or negative) regarding the new moves?

I am big Tony Bruno fan , thought there was no one that could stop me from not listening to Bruno, but his current cohost seems to have done just that. Havent listened to Bruno or 97.5 in months.
 
One of these kids banned me permanently from the 97.5 Facebook page for some very civil constructive criticism I gave concerning their new lineup. When you are that sensitive and defensive there must be a good reason for it.

If you cant handle the the feedback then take down the facebook page, 97.5 becomes less irrelevant everyday.
 
Regarding WIP? Is it just me or does the morning chick make your ears bleed too? That chick annoys the hell out of me.
