Enough with the negativity!
I'd like to know your opinion on what's good about local radio in Cincinnati? Myself, I'm really looking forward to the return of the Two Angry Guys. They have a great on-air chemistry and, in my opinion, are head and shoulders above all other sports hosts in our city.
How about you?

Good Cincinnati radio? It's a Four Letter Word... W D J O

WVXU 91.7

Its not really local, but its definitely a positive thing 'brought to us' by a local station.

Great discussions about the news.

Also, they offer BBC though-out the overnight hours.

In a word.....OLDIES!

WDJO Florence/Cincinnati

and WSWO Ultimate Oldies in Huber Heights

i've been outspoken about how much i dislike the 2AGs - you can find no shortage of my reasoning in past posts. BUT...honest question: what is it about them that you, and apparently others, find to be so "good" about the show? and as a side-question, what has been your exposure to local sports talk programming for prolonged periods of time (long enough to get to know the hosts) in other markets, similar or otherwise? i honestly find it fascinating that people enjoy a 4 hour show about complaining, and would like to know more on the reasoning.

Because I enjoy them! Is that a good enough answer for you? In my initial post I asked for things you liked about local radio. I should've known you would chime in with your brand of pompous negativity. I bet you're a real treat to live with. Here's an example.
Master of Muppets: "Where would you like to eat tonight, dear."
Mrs. MoM: "I feel like having a Zips Burger, they're delicious!"
Master of Muppets: "Zips! Why would you want to eat there! Greasy Joes in Chicago makes a much better burger!"
Mrs. MoM: "I just thought we could eat there since we don't live in Chicago and live in Cincinnati."
MoM: "We can't go until you write me a 3 page essay and explain to me why you like Zips so much. I can't understand why you like something that I don't!"

Please get over yourself soon!

wow. you immediately go personal. that's cheap, man. if you look over at the willie-going-national thread you'll see that i actually addressed your snide option before you even wrote it.

i'm just asking why you like them. sure, i put in my two cents, but i don't need your permission to add context to a legit question. this is a site about radio, right? so what's so gawd-awful about asking why you like a show that A.) i dislike, and B.) others disliked enough to have the 2AGs split up and eventually taken off air?

right now when i listen to music, my dial is stuck at 94.9, as is the front office of where i work, along with the warehouse in the back of where i work. i hear it everywhere. when i listen to talk i'm usually between 1350 or 700.

and for the record, i've not brought up chicago in a while. i saw that it was becoming an easy-out for others so i removed it from my contextual points of reference.

;) Wow, thin skin! It was just a joke, settle down please! And so your feelings aren't hurt any further, I will tell you why I like the Angry Guys. I always laugh when I hear them. They don't bog their show down with too many stats. And, finally, one of them owes me a lunch at Hooters so it is my hope that by saying something nice about them he will finally pay up. The reason I started the post in the first place was so we could maybe see what's actually good about Cincinnati radio. WDJO isn't my cup of tea but I wasn't compelled to reply to the poster who mentioned and ask him why he likes it. He digs oldies. I get it. Do you?

man, i should have gone with my gut and kept in my reply how i thought you'd respond. now i can only say that i called your response - but with no proof.i hope the irony laid into the response above was intentional. otherwise i'll have to demand that you give me back the 5 minutes of my life i've given up so far on this.

anyway… oldies are not my thing either. unless....it's the former "jam'n oldies" format that this market used to have - other markets have a similar format, and i've always been a big fan of 60s/70s rhythm, funk and soul. i'm a fan of good music, not one genre. i love the speed metal show that i pick up from time to time on saturday nights - forgot the station. and one of my go-to shows for years has been WOBO's M-F bluegrass show from 8-12p. locally, my fav talker is WLW - i find willie very, very funny.

nationally, i get the weekly podcasts for NPR's Selected Shorts and This American Life. used to be quite the Prairie Home Companion fan until garrison made it a bit too political for my tastes (i'm a libertarian). i still catch Car Talk, too, during the autumn months for some reason.

Sorry, Kreskin, there was no irony intended.

I have to agree. I think WDJO sounds fabulous. I actually feel happier when I listen to them, as corny as that may sound.

WDJO....the BEST of Cincinnati radio, by far. These guys actually LOVE their gig. And they even pronounce the names of the artists correctly since they are old enough to actually remember the tunes. Wider playlist than any station in town. I just hope they can keep it up for us oldies fans.

I have to agree that DJO has got it going on. What's also good is that since all the swapping that's gone on, CC is finally fine tuning their machines that have needed a tune up for many years now. Now, if we could only get less voice tracking, and more LIVE and local. Oh yeah, I'm really reaching here but, maybe disc jockeys that actually pick their own music on occasion, like AOR of yesteryear, or what the guys and gals are doing out at Class X. But, in reallity, I know that won't make the numbers that the suits want. Then again, I think WXRT in Chicago does pretty damn well.

anything buy WDJO!!!

I meant to say BUT.

You would think that with how much people on this board love it, it would be in the top 10..

well...it is better that StooperTalk

Did anyone go to the Dave Ramsey live event or hear anything about it? Did anyone notice all the TV, newspaper, and billboard ads had NO mention of 96.5?

I wonder if he sold out the event?
