Let's Make A Deal

Hmmm...Ricki Lake, anyone. (After all, she did host a "LMAD" during "Gameshow Marathon").

Nope. Not her either. Ricki is freaking fantastic hosting a daytime talk show. But didn't like her as a game show host. It seems that lots of people can do one format, but aren't very good when doing another. They need to find someone good at GAME SHOWS. I realize that may be a challenge these days, but they really need to make better choices when picking out a host.

I generally like game shows that give away money like Pyramid better than ones that are mostly prizes like LMAD or TPIR. And I agree that it would have been better if both LMAD and Pyramid had been given a half hour, which would have increased the chances of at least one surviving even if it was expanded to an hour later. But I still hope LMAD makes it and will be the beginning of a return of game shows to network daytime TV. Almost any game show is better than the trash talk and infomercials that make up a big part of daytime TV now.

I don't think the new Lets Make a Deal is bad at all, really, considering that whoever hosts it is coming up against the Monty Hall legacy, and will always pale in comparison to it. But its so much better than the Billy Bush version several years ago.

Is it just me or does the LMAD format seem outdated...I don't think the show format has aged well.

How great would it have been if Bob barker was hired to host it? That would have been the next best thing to Monty hall.

Did the episodes so far feature furs, meat or foreign cars as prizes? If so, Bob no doubt would require some changes first.
How 'bout contestants in silly clown suits or cheerleading outfits? LMAD has GOT to have that if it has ANY chance of succeeding IMO. ;D

Just my opinion....

Cheers :D

I don't like Brady as host of Deal and I don't like O'Hurley as host of Feud. I think they were two odd choices. I thought Richard Karn was doing a fine job hosting Feud. I would have kept him. I most likely wouldn't have hired Brady in the first place. I can think of other people who would have been a lot better in that job. I know Howie Mandel already has a show, but I bet he would be a killer host for Let's Make A Deal. Tom Bergeron would have been good too. There are many others who would have done great. So far I'm not impressed with what I see. Not at all. It's very mediocre. Probably not good enough to last for long.
Maybe Donny Osmond (Who wasn't a bad host of Family Feud himself) could save LMAD (He'd certainly be attractive to the ladies ;D )
Just my opinion.
Cheers :D

EDIT John O' Hurley is actually a pretty good host of Family Feud. In fact, I'd probably go so far as to say he's probably BETTER than Ray Combs was IMO.

Osmond did Pyramid, not Feud. :)

For me, the best Feud hosts in order were Combs, O'Hurley (very close), Karn, Dawson, Anderson (and ignoring the short-lived stunt of Celebrity Feud last summer and Game Show Marathon). Just one fan's take.

Loved Combs as host of Feud. Still seems likes Dawson's show though. He was the first. As far as I'm concerned he was the last 1994-95. This latest version of the show Anderson kicked off seems like something different. Not the true Feud that I grew up with. But I think Karn was the best host this version has had. O'Hurly is good on Seinfeld. But I can't seem to get used to him on Feud.

For me personally, Dawson will always be Family Feud.
He brought a new style to emceeing, especially letting
contestants know about it when they gave an obviously
dumb answer (and kissing all the women). He didn't
know how to be anything but himself, like the day he
said something about Henry Kissinger to the effect that
"he announced that peace is at hand, then put the world
on hold while 10,000 people died." When some of the
show's advertisers threatened to pull out, he said go ahead,
there are plenty more lined up to get on this show. Or when
producer Howard Felsher ruled an answer wrong that Dawson
thought was right, and cost the family that gave it the game,
Dawson said, "Either they'll be on this show tomorrow or I
won't." And they were! When have you seen an emcee like that?
(It didn't endear him to his peers, especially when he'd say things
in print like, "Bob Barker and those other guys never listen anyway.
They all want to be Charlie Charming." Then he'd blast Barker and
the others for not coming down on contestants who gave an obviously
wrong answer.)

As for O'Hurley, I've never watched his version of Feud but thought he
did a good job on To Tell The Truth, even if he wasn't Bud Collyer or
(my personal favorite TTTT host) Garry Moore. If they just hadn't had
Paula Poundstone...

No. Let's not. Wayne was a bad choice for host. One of the runner ups for Price is Right should have been given a chance.

Such as...Rosie O'Donnell?

I need to check the show out soon, I have yet to see it.
