What format would you like to see return to the Buffalo market? And, which air personalities do you staff it with?
Ground rules:
1. You can use air staff from any other Buffalo station and/or talent that's "sitting on the bench".
2. NO syndicated shows to fill weekday time slots. (You can use them for the weekend shifts.)
Here's my choice: I'd go with album rock(or, if you wish, active rock). The Buffalo market hasn't had an AOR station since 103.3 segued away for AOR The Fox in 1995 to become alternative 103.3 The Edge. There has to be some common ground between Cumulus' two rock stations, classic rock WGRF(97 Rock)and the alternative of WEDG.
So, who to staff it?
*Mornings are a no-brainer: Get Shredd and Ragan away from WEDG. They have a built-in audience and their show would best fit in to this type of format.
*For middays, get Anita West back on the radio. She knows her stuff and has the right amount of attitude for that shift.
*PM drive would best be served by James(103.3 The Edge). Again, good musical knowledge and a snappy on-air presence.
*(I'm still trying to figure out who would handle nights.)
*Lorne Hunter would be a perfect fit for overnights. His mellow tone along with knowing the music would serve him well. (For proof, consider the work he did when 107.7 was known as The Lake.)
Let's see what everyone else can come up with...
