Let's Speculate On "98.7 The Fan" Air Talent

@ExBoardOp: Sapper may be awful in your view (and others) but having played the game, he brings something to the table. (I bring that up so that no comparisons to David Lee Roth can be made. :D ) As an aside, he recently did an interview with Toucher & Rich on CBS' FM sports station in Boston and at the top, he mentioned that he would "continue" working on NFL Network through the football season, though nothing official from NFLN regarding that. So it may be moot to consider bringing him into The Fan, or it may not...

I'm just some guy making his first post on this board, so you read between the lines. The new FM station will be broadcasting almost entirely local content, if not all. Their big splash move to generate "excitement" is becoming the flagship for USF. I know, the excitement is palpable.
Here is some of the "talent" CBS is bringing to FM:

Chris Dingman- Former Lightning player that will likely be paired with an outside the market name in the morning from 6-10am.

From 10-2pm Justin Pawlowski will be paired with Gary Shelton. Yes, 620 is quivering in terror from that duo.

From 2-6pm Todd Wright will be paired with Booger McFarland. Wright is decent, but not sure Booger is listenable for more than a segment, much less 4 hours per day.

Other names that will have shows as part of two person teams:
Rich Herrera
Fab Sports Babe
Ronnie Lane

No big names flipping from 620 and no pro flagship stations.

But, again, I'm just some guy. When some news breaks in upcoming days, feel free to link this post to correctly attribute who had this "story" first.

I'd be shocked if Todd Wright agreed to work with anyone. He also doesn't like to take calls from listeners. Is CBS willing to pay him 250k a year? Forget about the fabulous sports babe. Her time is done. Rich Herrera could be good talking baseball, and maybe Brooke Bennett should be given a slot behind a mic. Now, Brooke is a babe ;D I'd like to know why she hates Janet Evans so much?

Not saying I agree with new talent. My understanding is CBS isn't paying top dollar, but I can guarantee Wright is on the new format. I was equally shocked about the Sports Babe. Bennett would be terrible on radio full time.

"No big names flipping from 620"

Honestly, outside of Duemig, what other "big names" from 620 would bring any listeners with them to The Fan? Serious question.

About the only thing that sounds appealing so far is Todd Wright. I know he doesn't usually take calls, but the idea of him with Booger is something I at least want to hear once.

Why hasn't Bobby Fenton been mentioned? He did a great job filling in on the morning show on 620, but he's pretty much blocked over there. Why he isn't on the air full time somewhere is beyond me.

None of those other names mentioned moves the needle much, at least for me.

Apparently Ernest Hooper from the Tampa Bay Times reads this forum regularly. "JustSomeGuy".... you got em to print your your predictions in today's paper.

So The Times gets their personnel on both 620 AND 98.7? Yes, I know they work different shifts, but should this come to pass, where, if anyplace can The Tribunes folks be found?

People still work at the Tribune? That paper won't be around come January anyway.

I figure the Area's Newspaper will have the name, "Tampa Bay Times-Tribune."

Not too shabby, huh?

With JustSomeGuy's clairvoyance and my music prognostication put on display here on Fan launch day, maybe we should start the Psychic Friends Network - Internet Region. Then the first round will be on us. :D

Here's the 98.7 lineup when it debuted August 2012:

1-6 AM Fabulous Sports Babe
6-10 AM Kirk McEwen, Chris Dingman "Kirk And Dinger"
10 AM-2 PM Justin Pawlowski, Gary Shelton "Gary And The Commish"
2-6 PM Anthony "Booger" McFarland, Todd Wright "Todd And Booger"
6-10 PM Rich Herrera

And here's what the lineup looks like if/when they reach their 2nd anniversary:

2-6 AM Damon Amendolara (CBSSR)
6-9 AM McEwen, Dingman, Roxanne Wilder "98.7 The Fan Morning Show"
9 AM-12 Noon Pawlowski, Jim Lighthall "Fan Interference"
12 Noon-3 PM Jim Rome (CBSSR)
3-7 PM McFarland, Marc Ryan "Booger and Ryan" (Footnote, Booger was also paired with Herrera for a time)
7-10 PM Ryan "Out of Bounds"
10 PM-2 AM Scott Ferrall (CBSSR)

Chris Dingman was let go a few weeks ago. Rich Herrera was moved to the morning show. 7-10pm show seems to be shared by Jeff Pantridge and Nanci Donellan.

the chickens are starting to mourn

Herrera has been bounced from AM to 7-10 to now AWOL (vaca?). This station is on serious life support, which seems to speak volumes as to how weak Tampa/St. Pete is as an overall sports market

I think Rich is recovering from heart surgery.
