LET'S TRY THIS

Who in Memphis has talent?

This board is full of nasty things to say about people. That is, untill they get fired. My humble theory is that sitting around providing commentary is pass time for the few. And those few tend to be a negative crowd. In the spirit of the holidays, I'll make a futile attempt at positive discourse with my answer to the following question, and hope that criticisms are posted elsewhere. Here goes:

1. Tim (Bev) and Bad Dog. This is a major market show. Bad Dog, specifically, is one of the most quick witted, on target guys in the biz. One of the most local, and topical shows in town. Ronald McDonald House' biggest local fundraiser. Get gigged as being dirty, but still on this side of the line. I've never heard them be mean. Consistantly funny.

2. Young and Elder. Despite a recent thread to the contrary, Y&E may be too silly for some, but not for a nearly 8 share of the metro. These guys are on all of the big topics, and might be the most quoted throuhout the day. Like a lot of people, I hated their voices at first. Like most, also, I came to "get it". They actually make you feel like when you're in on it, you're part of something special. Also known for big hearts with more charity work than others I've heard. I've heard Elder tear up some idiot caller who didn't even know it was happening, then turn around and be as sensitive with someone who was hurting.

Your turn.

Off the top of my head, Mike Evans, Steve Butler and Tom P come to mind. I think Megan on 98.1 has gotten a lot better. And Dennis and Ric are growing on me. There are others, too, but it's late. Good thread, though. 8)

Stan Bell - I have always loved listening to him... sounds fun and down to earth
Tom Prestigacimo - always warm and friendly sounding
Karson & Kennedy - They both just sound like they are having so much fun

All of the above stand out because they display personality while on the air something that becoming more and more un-common in radio

I agree on Stan B. and Tom P.

I have to mention Kay Manley, Devin Steele, Henry Nelson and Rob "I Live For The Weekend" Grayson.

Drake & Zeke have talent. Ain't no other show like them. I liked them better in the afternoons though.

Tim & Baddog have talent. I miss Bev, but I think they will be OK w/out her. Let Baddog totally loose on Memphis. Do more Twilight phones and let him do his thing. Baddog is truly unique and has a quick wit.

Dennis & Ric are much better than one would have predicted. The interaction with listeners is good. And Luca the hot foreign chick is cool.

Bring Jarman back. He yells alot, but that's what made his show cool.

Young and Elder totally suck ass.

Apollo Creed, what totally sucks ass is your take & the morning show that was on KIX prior to Young & Elder.

D&Z, Y&E, Bobby at DIA, Bad Dog & Tom P are all good talent. Other than Tom ... FM 100 is a misguided, poorly programmed train wreck. They should fire whoever is running that in the ground while they still have time.

Thanks for the nice mention above.
While I sincerely appreciate the free sharing of our valuable opinions, it is worth note that a post whose theme was "let's try saying something positive" stayed that way for almost 52 hours.
I say fire 'em all! Toss the bas**rds out on their rumps! That's not near enough... let's send a delegation over and burn their houses down to the ground. Beat their sorry tails to a bloody pulp. That'll teach 'em! How dare they show their inferior selves up day after day on my radio. I'm sure we could scour skid row and come up with a more talented lot than those bums.
Let's take all the stations that aren't number one 12 plus and flip them country. I don't know why we didn't think of that long ago. Then, and only then, will there be competition for that neglected segment of the populace.

Oops... Did I push post?

IMHO, Tom P. , Bobby O'Jay, Mike Evans, Chris Malone & Stan B. All have a good sound, friendly, and "easy to listen to".

And THAT my dear is what makes you such a great personality!!! Best laugh I've had all day!!

As for who's on first, as much as I miss Bev, all Bad Dog would have to do is laugh for four hours and I'd be rolling in the floor.... Chetter has really grown with the afternoon gig and has become a talent to be reckoned with. And any person that says anything bad about Tom P, well, that person must enjoy smashing lady bugs and telling little children there is no Santa or Tooth Fairy!!

What, so I'm not allowed to have an opinion? Sorry if not everyone likes what you do. You probably like Dr. Phil and LOVE the new K-Fed album.
