Let's wish David E a speedy recovery from COVID.

Thanks for the kind remarks! I'm indeed feeling better, and these notes make things even better.

I went to New York City two weeks ago to receive an award at the NAB Fall Convention and was obviously exposed then. No sooner was I back from the long trip than I felt bad, took out one of those COVID tests you can get free, and went into isolation with my Havanese dog, Rikki.

Fortunately, the family keeps me supplied with things like apple juice and tomato soup (my first COVID observation is that it drives your taste buds crazy).

Thank goodness for Netflix and Prime Video... and for this board for entertainment!

Allow me to add my wishes for a speedy recovery. The entertainment sounds fine, but apple juice and tomato soup?!? 😊 (hopefully not mixed together!)

Nope... they are explosive as a mix!

Oh, dear. I hope you get better very soon. Paxlovid was an absolute miracle drug for me when I got COVID in August. And, yes, COVID can mess with your sense of taste. We'll keep you supplied with entertainment for sure.

Paxlovid is indeed great! I have the energy of a snail and the attention span of a gnat, but getting better!

Get well soon David! So sorry to hear that you caught COVID. Glad to hear you are feeling better though. When I had it, it was weird losing your sense of taste and smell. The fever was the scariest part. The COVID cough lasted a while too. You’ll get through this David! Feel better!

Sorry to hear that you've contracted the 'rona, David. Here's hoping you recover quickly and get those taste buds back in order. You're in the thoughts of this Texan.

Only tiny incidents of cough, and no fever. Just tired, changed taste. So I was lucky (as lucky as you can be in such a case) to get the milder version. I stayed as isolated as possible for nearly 4 years, but really wanted to go to New York for the NAB and the award they gave me and www.worldradiohistory.com... a calculated risk where my evaluation failed or was overcome by my ego!

Hang on, hang on... You hava Havanese, and you named it Rikki??? Not "Negila"??? And you claim you spent a lifetime in radio?

While there's obviously no retrospective way to establish where you picked up your case, my money's on one of the airport terminals. The planes themselves have solid ventilation while the engines are running, but the hole in their system is, once a flight arrives at its destination, the engines are cut, and everybody has to wait to exit while no air is moving, breathing stale air. So unless you were in row 1, that's also a possibility.

Regardless, hope it's over very soon and you're back to 100%.

We have two Havanese... Rikki and Lucy. Yes, the "Ricky" is misspelled but it is also in part due to Rikki Tikki Tavi in one of the Kipling novels.

Actually, were in row 1 on all 4 flights. I'm liftetime ExecPlat on American so got the nice seats with a meal... and a disease. NAB provided us with a limo everywhere, too. Definitely got nice treatment.
Regardless, hope it's over very soon and you're back to 100%.
Much appreciated.

I've dispatched Nurse Jeff to your desert hut with a bunch of Spade Cooley CDs to get you going. He's taken the '76 Gremlin, so I have no idea when he'll get there...or if he'll get there! In the meantime, get your rest and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
