Many of you have already seen this, but here is a reply from Rod Moses in RW on why Radio Goldfield was given an STA to broadcast.

It raises the idea that, in an extreme circumstance, perhaps a mechanism should be put in place at the FCC to fast track individual LPFM apps. If the need is there and it is immediate, why not?

I agree. If they have the resources (and are willing to take the time and effort) to send enforcement personnel out to B.F.E. to shut him down, then they DAMN sure have the spare man-hours to process a little bit of paperwork. They receive our tax dollars in order to engage in the mission of protecting the public interest in the airwaves, broadly -- not just for the "fun" part where they get to play Columbo and go around busting people -- and this mandate can speak in favor of licensure just as easily as it can speak against interference.
