Letterman, Leno, and Fallon all in reruns this week

They just had over a week off for the Holidays, it seems like they have a week off every non-sweeps month. Any why the all choose the week of inauguration day?

Conan is new this week on Monday to Thursday (not aired on Fridays). Is Jimmy Fallon's show new?

Conan had all of New Year's week off and he doesn't do shows on Fridays. Leno, Letterman, and Fallon were back on Wednesday that week. Why didn't they just take that whole week off and have new shows this week?

Okay, I'm curious: Why doesn't Conan do shows on Fridays? It can't possibly be because of the "Friday nights are the death slots" mentality.

He isn't the first. There was a period when Late Night With David Letterman only ran MON to THU, when Friday Night Videos was a 90-minute show. That changed in 1987 when Letterman started doing Friday episodes and the video show was cut down to one hour.

Reruns

I think Jay has new shows all week (if you can stomach it).

Dave, Craig, Fallon, and Carson are in reruns. It's been fairly routine that the hosts take the full week prior to sweeps off. I have never watched Kimmel, but I guess he has always taken Monday off, though I notice that next Friday, the first Friday of February Sweeps, ABC is showing a "best of" weekly compilation ("Fr 2/1: "Jimmy Kimmel Live: This Week" - highlights of the past four shows"). Not sure whether that's part of his 1135PM contract or ABC just being creative for sweeps.

Winter sweeps are in February. So it's a chance to rest up, and save good guests for a month when it counts.
And by "good guests", we mean some Oscar nominees as we inch closer to the big awards.

But while everybody else took time off to enjoy the Olympics last summer, Conan was the only one that had new shows.

they should have just taken 2 weeks off during the Holidays, people are back in their regular view habits

it's cheaper for TBS to run a cut up movie in strechovision on Friday nights, Letterman also doesn't Friday shows during the summer

^I don't remember TBS broadcasting movies that appeared stretched on TV screens. Did they just start broadcasting movies that way? If so, was it done for their high-definition feed or their standard-definition feed or both?

Same with The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Monday thru Thursday only.
