Letting the music do the talking

Coming from mainstream radio to a CCM format was weird--part of the reason that I even considered doing it was because the station was one that let the music do the talking. That does not, in any way, diminish my faith or devotion or fire--but, if it makes people more likely to listen to the station--then it is a good thing. The station is for the listener...and our listeners, mainly mid-thirties women with children, need to be uplifted...not made to feel inadequate or guilty, or even uncomfortable. Don't you think God can use those artists? If you want to work at a station where it is about you and your testimony--go work at a non-comm and let it rip during the fund-drives.
The radio is a passively used thing...we forget that and make it about ourselves. I welcome the opportunity to tell a funny story about my marriage or family, connect on that level, and build a friendship with the listener--really, it is not intimate enough (in my opinion) to get into real testimony issues...they just want to hear another Audio A song. :)
