Lewis Compton, WMVA, WHEE, RIP

Read about it here . . . [urlhttp://www.martinsvillebulletin.com/article.cfm?ID=17921[/url]

thanks for posting this, I had the great fortune to work with and learn from Lewis at WHEE, much respect and honor deserved. A true class act with a wonderful voice. One story I remember during the morning show he would sometimes pull a 45 record out of the afternoon top 40 box and play it. He once played "Free Bird" by Skynyrd and stopped it before it finished and simply said that sounds like a wild bird to me and moved on.

I grew up in the Martinsville area mainly in the late 60's to mis 80's and will never forget Lewis Compton's distinctive voice,I listened to him at WHEE and at Martinsville Speedway, you could almost hear him over the cars. The last few years I have missed hearing him at the Speedway.
RIP Lewis.

virgiltab,I did reply to your email, was hoping for a reply from you
