Lewises finally cashing out in Winchester?

DCRTV says the Lewis family is about to sell WINC-FM/AM, et al, in Winchester and WBQB-FM/WFVA-AM in Fredericksburg. Some of the real gems in small-market radio (though the NOVA turf served by WINC-FM is the size of a Top 20 market).

Is it just a rumor? Is it real? Got a price tag?

I saw on dcrtv that Centennal Broadcasting out of the Roanoke region is buying WINC. Rumor or not, can't say but the idea that the Lewis Family may even be thinking of selling is BIG news. I have a feeling they will since, well they are getting up there in years. Whoever does buy WINC, I doubt that it mean the end of Barry Lee doing mornings there. Got to be a fool to even consider that one. But I do think this could be the end of WINC-FM being live 24/7 though.

Lately it seems there have been many Winchester/Martinsburg radio rumors. Beisdes WINC-FM may be up for sell and/or in the process of bieng sold, You have Prettyman Broadcasting in Martinsburg ( WLTF/WICL/WEPM ), Well WICL Cool 95.9 recently blew out their airstaff except for Gary Michaels in favor of hooking up with Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel satellite network. And there is another rumor that WEPM and Martinsburg's WRNR AM 740 might end up in one way or another become one station as in one simulacasting the other.

I can't see the simulcast thing happening with WEPM and WRNR. I spent many a summer in Martinsburg while growing up in the 70's. I wish WRNR would go back to the top-40/rock format that they had inthe late 70's but I know that will never happen.

I dont see a simulcast happening between martinsburg's two am's WEPM or WRNR, but there is a rumor going around that what is now WICL Cool 95.9 may sometime this summer drop the oldies and become WEPM-FM Sports Radio 1340/95.9. Hell, might as well since WICL already got the Hagerstown Suns and I heard even WVU sports. BTW...Gary Michaels is gone. Pretty much 95.9 is satellite around the clock now other than a doo wop show on sunday nights. And even that may be ending soon.
