Lex & Terry Say ADIOS To Jax?

Has anyone else heard that L&T are leaving Jacksonville?

Two souces (one at CC, one elsewhere) say a move to a CC station in a top-ten market is imminent (didn't CC just build them a studio in Jax?).

Now looking at CC's top-ten, only two makes sense for L&T (IMHO)
Dallas (#5) or Houston (#6).

IF TRUE, how does that change the dynamic in Jacksonville?

1) More likely L&T and WPLA move to 107.3 (at 1ookw)
2) More likely L&T and WPLA stay on 93.3 (tall tower, but not a 100kw signal)

Do you think they would go back to Dallas. They tried that. PLus is there a station to put them on out there.

What I think isn't relevent, what's actually happening is.

But, as you asked; I think L&T would LOVE to go back to Dallas and prove they can win in a big market against the big boys. Ego drives this crowd, not rational thought.

I think you are half right. Terry would love to be in a much larger market. He misses the big city and always has had an eye on getting back to one. Lex would be happy to stay in Jacksonville if all things were equal, but they are not. They are already very successful and are making big bucks on any yardstick but now if the show clicks in the right markets they have the opportunity to make life-changing money from their deal with CC. Not to say it couldn't happen without a move, but that giant step toward the mega-money might be easier to make from a larger city. I hope they kick ass everywhere they're on. They are decent guys who have worked for 10 years + to get where they are now. I wish them the best of luck.

What a stupid opinion.

FYI, Lex and Terry ARE part of the 'big boys'.. Count how many rock based morning shows air on 20+ stations. Four, and one just quit today.

You mistake ambition for "ego".

Sure, there is ego in LandT, but all the best personalities have egos.

But if they are BRAVE enough to go back to a major market and leave the warm embrace of their home market to try and take it to the top level - more power to them.

I have no idea if this rumor is true, and I doubt it is, but what is irrational about wanting to play in the majors?

A little fun fact. Clear Channel in Atlanta (#10) wanted Lex and Terry on WMAX-FM (this was back when it was still a talker). It never happened though. Some say it was because Cox, which is headquartered in Atlanta, cockblocked them and didn't want them competing against their cluster up there.

Right now CC Atlanta has 2 rockers. 96 Rock (Classic Rock), which has local sensation The Regular Guys, and 105.3 The Buzz (Alt Rock) , which is struggling to overcome 99X and just got a nice fat signal increase.

You are all but right, except the station. L&T have told this story several times on the show... They claim it was for 96Rock after they fired the Regular Guys. Cox "blocked" it... huh-huh.. cox blocked....

Ah, 96 Rock. I was close, but I was there when all that went down. CC Atlanta had 2 morning talkers, The Regular Guys on WKLS and Bob and Tom on WMAX-FM. Soon the Regular Guys were fined/fired. Eventually Bob and Tom moved to WKLS and the MJ Morning Show went to WMAX-FM. WMAX went to Spanish WWVA-FM later that year, and Bob and Tom stayed put on WKLS until Spring 05 when the Regular Guys were returned to the air after a brief (and I do mean brief) stint on WGST doing political talk.
