Leykis fans speak out

FROM THE COCKPIT:
Talk about a BUZZ KILL!!! Our Seattle home has been BLOWN UP!!! Be sure to check back frequently for news. We thank you for over a decade of support and encourage you to voice your opinion to Entercom Seattle at (206) 285-7625.

Oh brother it seems to me if Leykis had such a great working relationship with the folks in Seattle he would have been given the skinny on this situation a long time ago and they would have been looking for new syndication opportunities in this market.

KISW chose a show called the Mens Room over Leykis in Seattle afternoon drive. I guess Leykis aint the hot Seattle commodity he thought he was.

When a syndicated show is contracted for local use, does the syndicator have any control over the timeslot in which it's played? Could this be a result of contract negotiation with local talent? Leykis is a hot commodity locally, but does his show really fit in afternoon drive on what is primarily a rock station...even one that is re-imagining itself as "personality driven"?

Fact is, Mens Room can add personality and keep the music. KISW can't control Leykis' format to insert the music they want. All this blah blah blah from the haters, yet they've yet to read an Arbitron. The bottom line is that rock and talk get merged, Leykis doesn't fit, and he's accomodated in the wee hours. That's better than anyone else would get. I think Leykis' performance deserves PMD clearance, but if there's nothing else to support a station he fits on, what are you going to do?

Go ahead and bash him as "not being the hot commodity he thought he was", but I somehow don't think the Entercom programming staff had simply forgotten he was on for the last eleven years. "Damn it!, if we would have only known he was still on our station, we would have told Dennis Green to cancel him long ago!"
