Leykis Going Back To His Roots

An article in the Orange County Register reports on how "hot" Tom Leykis' show has become in having recently focusing on discussions about the 2008 Presidential election, and devoting not so much attention to relationship and "guy talk".

In fact, Tom will be pulling an all-nighter on Tuesday night to do a special live election broadcast.

You will recall that Leykis' show used to focus on politics and the like (one of his shows was simulcast on C-SPAN back in the '90's) before switching to a new platform and vowing he is not "a right-wing wacko or a convicted felon" in the open of each and every hour.

A brief correction in the article: "Blow me up, Tom" is a catchphrase that callers use in self-ejection, and not "the description he uses to get rid of irritating callers," as the columnist, Gary Lycan, wrote.

Kudos for the Lycan correction.

Leykis started using his "a right-wing wacko or a convicted felon" when he returned to LA in May or April (?) 1994 on 710 Talk and he continued to have a political/topical show on that station until he went to 97.1 (1997?) where he amended the show's focus.
