So this is how to make back a $95 Million dollar investment? With Tom Lykis? You've got to be kidding or just crazy! San Francisco has no audience for Tom Lykis that will ever generate any ratings for this station! For the third time he will go down in flames! He's a one trick pony, no one in San Francisco needs his advise on how to treat a woman like a whore! Or a whore like a lady! Or how to beat child support by making the ladies get an abortion! Once upon a time he was entertaining! CBS Radio needs to blow up this Free FM boondoggle and do anything but what they are doing!

I guess to their credit, they did at least something with that afternoon slot. Will it translate into success? The odds are stacked against him.

Leykis Taking on Savage
While Leykis is both amusing and annoyingling mysogonistic -- he certainly isn't as nuts as Michael Savage. I was glad to here that he is "taking on" Savage in the SF Bay Area ratings. In a special one-hour SF only prelude to his new live 3-7pm slot on KIFR 106.9 Free FM today Leykis admitted how much 106.9 has sucked and that the station is going to try and turn things around. Of course this remains to be seen -- but some needling of Savage is always amusing.

Dream On, He had his butt kicked 3-4 times by Savage. When he was on 95.7, 1550, 650, I might be missing at least one more. Why do you think he became Leykis 101. A show that went the direction of Stern, except with his pants on. Because his politics hasn't carried him too far except in Seattle.

I see, so if you don't agree with a show or would rather be a dinosaur who still listens to music on the radio, then said show must be bad. Leykis' schtick surely doesn't play nearly as many places as Rush or Sean's faux cowboys boots and apple pie vibe, but he does well in a select number of large, mostly western markets (he's also a victim of being one of the only decent shows in the format).
I personally get sick of the same tired music formats on three or four freqencies, plus dopey formats no one cares about, on FM. Talk is the future as those with a clue get music elsewhere (and no, satradio doesn't count)
And apparently the one poster also believes a woman shouldn't be able to have an abortion simply because the guy she was with suggested it. If women don't want to be treated like whores, they won't let themselves be... perhaps the shoe fits a little too well?

With Savage out today, the earlier post I answered too, remind a chance to give ole ' Tom a listen , and what the hell happen to his voice??? He eithier has Laryngitis or he sounds like an older man. He use to be so enhancingly bright and loud. It's been at least 5 years since I last tuned to his show.
He's been sounding like that lately. Listened to some airchecks from the old political show and an 'RKO show from '92 and he did sound much better then. But it seems like he's burrowed himself in LA in is content to be big there and do alright in a few other decent sized markets with the large paychecks he speaks frequently of.
If he is a smoker, he probably smokes to much! That'll change anybodys voice!
He is not, but it sounds that way. Is he done cutting into the second of Radio Chick's remaining hours?
Just wondering? When will CBS wake up and understand that they have the Doghouse with JV and Elvis. It's really simple, put them on in SF as the morning drive drive on 106.9. They are already working for CBS in NY. They are on 9am-1pm in NY so that would make them the morning drive in SF. They have BIG NUMBERS in the bay area for 10 years. CBS might want to look into something that has worked for years in SF. And best part of it all they already work for them. Doghouse on both coasts...Now that is a good idea.

FreeFM tried tp work a deal w/ The Doghouse. Doghouse didnt like the terms and walked away.
Yes they did try and work a deal. However it was for a tape delay show in the slot that O & A have now. They want to be on live in SF and in NY. So the only way that would work is for them to make "The Doghouse" the morning drive in SF.

What I want to know is if Free FM or CBS Radio has the option of putting their show on in SF without their approval?
If Jv didn't want their show to air on delay, could Free FM basically tell them that they are going to be here taped whether they like it or not...
Or would something in the contract prohibit that from happening?

They have a 1 year deal with WFNY and would have to have a another deal to go into other markets. They were offered the slot that O & A got , but did not want it being delayed. I would have to agree with them that they should have the morning drive.
