Leykis talk show coming back in April

I’m a fan of Leykis, but what he and other radio hosts fail to realize is that being away from radio for any sort of long period (2 years + for Leykis) is the kiss of death. His audience has moved on, found other places and it will be very difficult to bring them back.

Look at KABC. Years of neglecting their audience has led to an exodus which will never bring their audience back. The ratings bear this out.

Also this dream of the new normal podcast, is a joke. No one listens to that and no one will listen to that.

If Tom comes back to terrestrial radio, and does great radio as he did before, people will listen.

I'm sure he couldn't do a talk show since he was still under contract. I envy him for getting paid big money to not work. I can just see him floating in his pool. ;D

...From a student of Leykis 101. 8)

It seems like thus far podcasts by former radio hosts seem to be either a hobby, poorly paid job, or vanity affairs much like self-published books.

He seems to have done his homework from a business point of view, but that sample on the website indicates that his voice is still shot and that the program will be a rehash of the old CBS show except with f-bombs.

If his voice is shot, he should have Brian "Tom" Whitman substitute for him and no one will be any the wiser.

Hahaha, one can dream. :D
Whitman's Leykis impersonation was the only thing I ever liked about Whitman. It was top notch spot-on parody.
Then Tom got all butt hurt about it.

Wherever Tom Leykis on broadcasting I will go there to listen. Tom is at a level above everybody out there except for the genius of Phil Hendrie. I do think Phil maybe coasting and wonder whether he is happy with his syndicator. Hendrie fans know what I am talking about when I say this. As for Tom, he is just about the funniest broadcasting talent in the country with Phil a very close second when he on top of his game.

Voice quality is a qualifier? Have you listened to Imus? ;)

On voice quality, has it not gone without notice that Peter Tilden's voice is gone? He's been mumbling for years in his fast and faster manner. Now, still worse, he is still mumbling ... with words skipped over and high squeaks. Good thing he is on at night so few people listen to him - far fewer than the miniscule numbers he produced on KABC mornings.

I'm pretty excited but Tom better get ready for listeners in the tens of thousands rather than the millions he is used to. His voice is a bit shot but it's not enough for me to tune him out. Material is still there and hopefully he doesn't change the format from his old KLSX gig.

As far as ratings are concerned, he doesn't average more than a thousand at one time for his Music and Rock channels. Leykis 101 will be interesting.

LOL. He is the best remedy for Insomnia. I tune in to his show in he has me in deep REM sleep within 15 minutes.

Considering our children now have compulsary LGBT education, I propose all young men have mandatory Leykis 101 education. 8)

Sad to see him come to this when he doesn't need money. What I'd love to hear, although I'm not sure where it would really play in this day and age, is him doing his political show. Bill Handel gets away with being a California conservative (ie: liberal on everything except taxes) and is less organically talented than Leykis.

I agree that Tom is much more entertaining than Handel. I did not like Tom's left-leaning political show on KFI. But then again, I'm mostly conservative.

Tom's show on KLSX was excellent. Of course I'm biased, as a perpetual student of Leykis 101.
I learned to be a student the hard way! 8)
