LF's 790 The Ticket Rumors

Heard rumors about some defections last week- Boog Sciami who does 1p-3p and Kevin Rogers who does evenings. Boog apparently quit Thursday, Rogers was let go over the weekend???. If this is true, seems pretty clear that LF is going to look to cut where they can despite the brash claims by Dennis Collins that they were going to keep things as is and put cheaper talent on the air.

Anyone able to confirm any of this?

Kevin Rogers is doing updates on LeBatard show today. His name is on the schedule for his evening show. I caught Sciambi Thursday & he said he's be in & out the next few weeks doing college hoops conf. tournaments & baseball.

Both guys are on the stations website still. If they really would've quit thursday, why would they still be on the site 3-4 days later?

::)

On the other hand I heard Neil killing Sid on Friday for his ratings. He actually, praised the other hosts for their trend. Though, he did kind of mention how the book was heavy spanish language (no speaky in-gles?) Does this mean Sid the Kid is in trouble? That's a real question?

Did get confirmation that Boog will be gone in April for good. His contract is up, heard he is not interested in renewing though I'm sure LF did not want to pay him almost $150K for two hours per day when he didn't live in the market and had almost no endorsement deals.

He said on his show LF offered him a 2 year deal and turned it down. Maybe, you should listen.

Again more.... ::)

Can you guys over at JCR get past what LF is doing with WAXY or what Neil & QAM will do and focus on your own issues. Like attracting listeners?

:D

Oh, now I get it - someone says something on the air and it HAS to be the truth!!! Gee, I didn't know that...

Boog Sciambi was hugely overpaid for his radio gig - very good baseball announcer for sure but was like watching paint dry on radio. If LF even offered him a contract extension as you say, it most certainly would have been for significantly less than what he was making under his Joel Feinberg contract that initially paid him over $200K per year.
I'm sure you understand some of the economics of radio, yes? This guy had almost no ratings, almost no sponsors and did his show on the roadl almost all the time. Sciambi can paint the picture on the air any way he wants but the bottom line is that LF is cutting salaries where they can at WAXY.

BOOG IS LEAVING IN APRIL INSTEAD OF JUGGLING ESPN AND THE BRAVES GIG AND I SAY GOOD FOR BOOG

He also admitted to the fact he's been working without a contract for a while. If what you say is true then why stick around? He could've left or quit on Thursdy as you alleged. Obviously, not the case. So, I'll take his word for it and not yours. No disrepect. Your thoughts just don't add up.

???

Boog stayed without a contract because of his allegiance to the previous management - Primetime Media & Joel Feinberg - who paid him an exorbitant amount of money for what he delivered in terms of ratings and sponsors. Boog's two best friends are Dan LeBatard and Stugotz who was the GM at the time and the one responsible for paying him all that money. While his contract was up for a while, he was still getting paid a lot of money so why would he walk away from it.

I don't blame Boog in this at all, I would do the same. He and the station can sugar-coat this any way they want but I can guarantee you that if LF is moving towards any fiscal responsibility in an attempt to stop bleeding money for WAXY, they would not offer him anywhere near what he was currently making. Hence, Boog is walking away while he can say publicly it's on his own terms. Sorry if you don't believe me but I am telling you the emmis.

Who will go in to that slot to replace Boog? Kevin Rogers? Maybe they move Sid the kid back to mid-days?

GOLDY!

If Neil is still leaving WQAM, perhaps he'll end up in Boog's spot. He was hot and heavy about leaving a few months ago but lately I haven't heard much about it. I would think
790, WIOD and WINZ would be the most likely places if he leaves and stays in the market.

if neil leaves he wont join 790 since the economic status of them and 790 is no longer the fox affiliate here its 640 wftl SPORTING NEWS is the syndication shows which will hurt 790 big

Syndicated overnight programming doesn't hurt anyone. You don't sell overnight programming. Unless, it's local and even then it's extremely limited. Do you even know anything about radio? I think we should check ID's before letting people post around here.

::)

Neil's not going anywhere. Sounds like he & Jolly Joe are on much better terms these days from what I hear on the radio.

Neil's not going anywhere. Who would pay him anywhere near what he's making? No one in Miami. And, with the struggles satellite is going through, I dont think they would either.

He just better hope they don't do to him what they did to Hank Goldberg. They wanted to cut his $$ in almost half. So he left.

As Neil always says, cash the checks.

I heard Neil say one day that Jolly Joe was "Hanking" him by offering half of what he's making. BTW...did Hank ever surface anywhere? When he was leaving, I heard him say that he had a lot of offers. I haven't heard him anywhere since, though I did see him one night at Cheetah.

on the subject of 790, I cannot stand LeBatard's show, for the simple fact that they have a show that should be on qam instead of 790, they talk too much garbage that doesn't have to do with Sports. Agree?

why should he be on qam his bf is right there stroking his leg saying youre doing good danny i love you lol ;D

I liked LeBatards show when it began...it was funny and irreverant. Now it's digressed into silly. It's a shame...he has a lot of talent. I find myself listening to the Mad Dog more on WQAM.
