No, no, no. You got me wrong.

When I said "That's funny! And sad. And sick."...I meant that what you wrote was funny, and the situation of a bubble-headed bleached blonde pronouncing "coup" as "coop" is sad. And sick, in a manner of speaking about the FOX product.

I don't think she's going anywhere anytime soon. Her hubby is an assistant prosecutor in the federal office here.

I understand what you meant. I just felt kind of guilty for slamming someone and perhaps hurting their feelings. I know that I would not like to be humiliated like that in a public forum.

You're right about it being very sad what has happened to 31 and also 8. There was a time that I had great hopes for that place. Unfortunately those days are gone. And even if those stations were sold to a new owner, it would take a decade at least to gain back any audience lost over the years.

As for the current crop of on-air talent, there are some who show promise, while others I wonder how in hell did they graduate from college? A mistake is one thing. Plain stupidity is another.

But then again when you pay cheap you get cheap.

As for Lando's future at 8, even though her husband has a good job here in Rochester, he's in a position to move to another city, especially if she lands a job in a larger market. And I truly believe she is looking.

While I certainly won't defend News Central (may it never rest in peace), I don't see the need to slam those of us who were struggling under its yoke trying to deliver a newscast with next to nothing and few to do it with.

I have sympathy for those suffering the working conditions at anything Sinclair runs which are comparable to East German State Television in its need to catapault the propaganda of its corporate owners, but I don't think anyone is directly targeting the staff as much as the owners and the finished product which was, I'm afraid, absolutely terrible.

You will have to brace yourself for the inevitable horrible reviews that News Central, in whatever its form, so rightly deserved, and remember that nobody forced you to work there, unless it was some sort of community service sentence (picking up trash off of Route 490 or cueing up "The Point"... it would be a hard choice).

I have no problem with that. I saw the horror from within.

Yeah, but I found I enjoyed the field. And it's not like I wasn't trying to get work elsewhere while I was there. However, everything turned out for the best. I ended up having a nice month off between getting laid off from there and getting hired where I am now, during which time I made more from the severence and unemployment than I ever did in a month actually working for News Central.

unless it was some sort of community service sentence.

Well, I did cast the deciding vote to bring the fast ferry to Rochester. ;)
